Is it worth converting super cd+gs to MP3?  Will you lose any quality because of the compression used to put the music on the super CD+G in the first place?

If it's worth doing, what program is the easiest and best to accomplish the mission?

Thanks but ...   Will the songs sound good enough to be presentable or is there going to be a quality issue.   Because of the compression used when the super cdg was made.

Hi,

Did you download from CDGFix's Website? Many of the generic sites,
offer corrupt downloads without you even knowing it.

I've used CDGFix for about 2 years now. They just released version 3.5.
It's awesome. Its abilities are magnificent.
You can now interchange the following formats:
CDG, MP3+G, RSQ, NEO, SCDG, NCG


FOR CONVERSIONS:
CDGFix Will Take Roxbox To The Cleaners!!!!!!!!!

TIP:
Using CDGFix for the first time.... Be prepared to Read alot.

Their Online Help manual isn't complete yet.
All the way up until now... No Guide at all!!!
I learned everything by reading the Forum.

I could walk you through it all. Just takes some getting used to.
The hardest part for me was remembering how to use the MASK'S to export.

I wouldn't worry about losing sound quality converting scdg. My quality maintains
at 192. There's a LAME setting in CDGFix to go even higher.
192 is fine for me. No Complaints.  After 192 your files start getting Really Large.

You speak about scdg compression. I just want to make sure you understand
what scdg is.

It's a CAV format.. Meaning the cdg file is replaced with an MCG file.
The mcg is paired with an MP3. When converting back to i.e. cdg..
there's no major compression done, Like in Video.
It's Merely a Data File!

I understand your concerns about mp3 quality loss.
Fact: Each time you convert an mp3 file... Some quality is loss.

Nevertheless, after converting perhaps thousands of files..........
Quality has NEVER been problem.
I've Always Maintained CD Quality Audio or Better.

The 192.   Was the SCDG done with that quality to begin with?

Nutech SCDG Vol. 1 thru 3, the quality is 128Kbps.
MULTIPLEXE
Sample Rate:  44100
Resolution:     16-bit
Channel:        Stereo
Quality:         128Kbps
= NOT CD Quality, But No Complaints

NOTE: If you use the CAVS Encoder, your quality will be the standard 128Kbps.
192 = Superior sound with larger file.

If you don't want to use CDGFix...
Batch convert the mp3's into, i.e. Adobe Auditon and enhance the quality.

Excuse me; but a 128kbps is not CD quality but a very compressed mp3 file.

I looked into this because I recently bought 3 CAVS disks. CDfix as great as it may be is around $80. For me to buy an $80 program to convert 3 disks just doesn't make much sense in my opinion even if the three disks do contain 2500 songs.

The Roxbox program is half the price. Even $40 just to convert 3 disks bugs me. It bugs me that I need to spend any money just to convert these 3 disks from the CAVS format to CD+G. I haven't decided yet what I'm going to do. I considered getting a CAVS player instead of buying a program I'll use once for a few minutes.

An mp3 with: - - - -Quality: 128 Kbps Length: 4:41
Same track Wave: Quality: 1411Kbps Length: 4:41
I meant to say, with the quality at 192, I've never had Complaints.

I agree with you. It would be foolish to purchase cdgfix just to convert 3 discs.
I utilize the software by maximizing it features as much as possible. From Repairs to Custom Compilations,
I've gotten my moneys worth 10 Times.
I have a cavs 203G and a 105G USB, for home use. If your considering the cavs player, Get the software to convert.

Personally, Cavs software is too slow. This is were CDGFix JAMS.
Just My Opinion.

As far as I have been told by all of the download sites i've talked with, they all rip their stuff at 128.  What is on the superscdg's is ripped at 128 as well.

Studies have found that as long as you're using high quality encoding software,
music compressed to a bitrate of 128 kbps or more is "transparent"
In other words, most listeners can't distinguish it from CD quality.
CDs operate at 1,411 kbps, more than 10 times the rate of MP3s.

But a listener's ability to distinguish sound quality depends on many factors:
Like Age, Hearing Ability, and Attentiveness, not to mention the Style of Music and where one listens to it.

For example, music with Delicate Timbres (A String Quartet) might sound noticeably choppy at lower bitrates,
whereas (Compressing An AC/DC Song) might not be so bad.

Personally, I wouldn't care if nobody used cdgfix.
I'm just trying to share an Awesome Software.
I've re-downloaded that software several times, received half-a-dozen
upgrades without problems.
