What are they mostly singing at your venue?  Country?  R&B? Rock?  A balanced mix of everything?   And what do you mostly like to hear?

Since you can only click one, I clicked wide variety because we get more rock AND country over anything else.

I am so sick of hearing certain songs, night after night.

They aren't just recent songs.  Some of them never die.

It seems like their popularity is ongoing.  I wish i wrote them. :O

One more thing.

Karaoke has remained so popular because everyone sings everything.  If it was all this or all that it would have died.   So be happy with a mixed bag of songs nightly.  If that stops, so do we.

If I never hear " Before He Cheats" again, it will be too soon.  I get three requests per night for that one.  Once a night is enough!  Goodbye Earl has to go, too, but then again I've never been a Dixie Chicks fan.

Personal hated songs:
1. Goodbye Earl
2. Before He Cheats
3. Paradise By the Dashboard Light
4. American Pie
5. Friends in Low Places (especially the one with the 3rd verse)

We get mostly Country and Rock with some standards thrown in, and about one Beatles song per month.  LOL  Same infrequency with rap and hip hop. Oh, uh... they don't have frequencies. Just percussion.

I'm ornery tonight!

I'm absolutely sick of Summer Nights, Picture, and Love Shack. Anybody that wants to do a duet invariably picks one of those. Also sick of Folsom Prison Blues, Sweet Caroline, What's Up, and Black Velvet. But I do get people all the time who come up with really cool songs I haven't heard in ages, so it all evens out.

Then make a rule that if it is sang in a night, it is not to be done again - works in our club.

Ladies: Recent pop, Hip-hop, some rap
Guys:  Metal, Grunge, Recent pop, Rap

And there's always some country in there somewhere. Saturdays can have quite a bit of it. And some classic rock.

I voted variety.

Once in awhile country dominates but usually it is a wide variety with a wide age range.

My backbone is country, without a doubt...but I would say it's about 60% country with 40% being the rest of the genres put together.  With a little effort I could keep track, I would like to know...so I may do that.  Very good information to know.  MrD

Lonman,
Yeah, I usually don't do duplicates unless one is very early in the night and the other one is about closing time.  But it's not a bad idea to ban duplicating those songs in a night to keep my sanity.

So..... you've had woman troubles in the past I take it?  LMAO

(just teasing)

There are quite a few songs I get sick of hearing as well. To hear them done regularly is, to me, not quite as bad as hearing the SAME singers do the SAME songs for years on end. I swear, where I go, some people are still singing their little list of 4-6 songs that they were doing 3 years ago. That gets really tiresome....

We don't seem to have "Before He Cheats" done too much at our bar, I dunno why. (i guess cause they're all still singing those songs from 3-4 years ago and fear squeezing in a new one...???) Love the Dixie Chicks, but good gosh it gets tiring hearing a group of drunk girls (why is it always a group??) do *Goodbye Earl*... I agree.

I rarely ever hear *Love Shack*.

"Love Shack" doesn't get done any more than a lot of things here. I don't mind it as much as some. And it still gets the room going - my litmus test. So it's OK by me.

I actually pulled "Paradise By The Dashboard Light" when I made the last book and told the the duo that was abusing it that the disc was busted. They're not around anymore so I may put it back in.

Maybe.

It depends on the venue, but around Cincinnati area you are going to hear a lot more country than in Philly, Seattle,  or Chicago. (Big cities I have sung in.)

In my very rural area some shows are 80% country, 10% oldies, and 10% other. At others, I would say it is 50% country, 30% oldies, and 20% other.

"Before He Cheats" is off our radar screen now -- I haven't heard it hardly at all the last month or two. Alas, can't say the same for "Picture" -- it's staying power is amazing.

A wide variety....no rap. lol. The place I go usually is half rock/metal & country. I try to do rock, but do an occasional country love ballad.....not really into the full grit yeehaw thing. But I do love to hear a sweet woman singing any country song well!  :worship:
Guy songs are okay in that genre, but I can't figure out why I'm not much into it?

Hell, even a couple girls kick a$$ on the heavy rock stuff! Guns 'N Roses....Janis Joplin...Led Zeppelin! I'm no match for that. LMAO

I just try to mix it up alot myself....and hope like hell I don't sound terrible. I wanna entertain people...not make 'em wanna leave. LOL

About 60% country at my venue in Central Illinois.  The other 40% is mainly classic rock with some modern/alternative rock.

Ah yes, and PICTURE.  How I hate thee.  If only Kid Crowe and Sheryl Rock knew the karaoke agony of this overplayed song.  I usually use this 4 minutes to go to the far end of the bar and get a drink, or a shot.
