Karen is right how we as kj's can produce a "fuller" sound for the performer by adding harmonies (and other background sounds)

However, as Karen indicated there are those who get confused when confronted with harmony lines and can end up "jumping" from one "part" to another.  So....I am very cautious about joining in.  I must know the singer and have tested a few bars (subtley in the past) with them before I will get involved in an obvious manner

Precisely - have to be very cautious. A number of really great singers ask and it can create a real show stopper.

The Beach Boys didn't become popular on KOCOMO.  It was the other hip surfin' songs.

KOCOMO was after they became the BEACH GEZZERS. LMAO

husband sings beatles really quite well, but as its me that programs our sets, I refuse to include any...it does not get folks on the dance floor. it hasnt got a beat that people can or want to dance to.
If someone requests some beatles or we are doing a theme night then sure I will include it but for the rest of the time its a no no...for me, I am not doing things right unless the dance floor is full

So does this apply only to your husband or also to your customers who may want to sing songs that aren't exactly getting people up to bounce all over the dance floor?  I don't quite understand the whole dance floor philosophy.  It is karaoke... People are there to sing and hear others sing... if they were there for the main purpose of dancing then why wouldn't they just hit a dance club and bounce to the latest version by the original artist?  ........I mean I am all for everybody having a good time and it is great when the natural progression of singers in the night gets people dancing (both fast and slow).... but I would never deny my wife (or anybody else) a song she wants to sing because it wasn't one to provoke the dancers.  People love to hear her sing regardless...

Who stated that they became popular with 'KoKomo'?  THis was a major comeback song for them in the late 80's & was actually their biggest selling single in their career.  Most likely due the new generation of fans that they are introduced to plus their followers from the previous decades.
