I reckon the ASCAP/BMI should go after all those hoons who drive around in their cars with their stereos cranked up to the max...  I bet they don't pay any licence fees for their public performance!   LMAO

I know that was just tongue-in-cheek, but that wouldn't be public performance. It would be Noise Pollution, of which there are Laws against that (just need a cop who's had a bad day, and decides to pull you over and ticket your A$$).

Here in Greeley they have all but closed down the college bars. On a weekend you can walk down 8th and find 3 parties in every block. They have have passed noise ordinance laws First offense is $1000.. Just another example of when they pass a law they need 10 more to solve the problem they created. LMAO

Just a k singer, but I bought 2 diff programs for vocal removal and neither worked. I'm mostly interested in music I can convert to cdg because I get great songs that are from other countries via chat pals. These songs are never going to make the cdg mainstream. A lot are also jazz gendre and karaoke hasn't caught up with that yet.

Not certain that legality is involved when there doesn't seem to be a law I've read? that says songs can not be converted for karaoke purposes???

Glad to take any corrections on that.

All the vocal eliminator progrmas work on the same premise, the all look for 'like' signals on both channels & then cancels them out.  Which means depending on how the song was recorded originally, they may or may not work.  If any of them are recorded in mono - it will never work.  Get a vocal that is slightly off center, it won't work as well.  Problem is when you do actually find a song that works, you may also lose some of the instruments as well - typically the kick drum, snare drum, bass guitar, sometimes guitar solos are the main ones.  Or they can also pull the vocal but leave all the effects as they are generally panned to different channels leaving more a ghost vocal track in the background.  So chances are the programs you have are fine - ONCE they find a song that will actually work.  A friend of mine has had some success but said out of say 100 songs, 6 or so actually worked well.

Hey Lon---

What were those 2 Karaoke creator programs you were talking about awhile back in another thread---Matt had some exerience with them also---I tried the demo version of one and it worked real well(except for being very slow and tedious to sync up the words to the music)?? These were NOT VOCAL ELIMINATORS but programs that I would use an instrumental piece of music and then sync up ORIGINAL LYRICS that I had written therby creating my own original Karoaoke creations(these were all blues and swing tunes). Just cant remember the names of the two programs. Id like to do this and go out and sing my own blues and swing creations at Karaoke some time.

I wasn't arguing that making your own karaoke songs isn't questionable.  I was merely pointing out that it turned into a discussion of HDD based karaoke.  I have no doubts that making your own karaoke for public performance could cause problems with sync rights, etc.  I just don't think that Cavs players and laptops are a problem.  They are, without a doubt, the way to go.  My back thanks that technology very much.  What really makes me mad is the people who are running around with two or three systems and one library.  I paid for one library, and only run one system, period.  If people call to book on a date that is already taken, they must pick another date or call someone else.

I would love to be able to sing songs that are on the CD's that I buy, but aren't released to radio, much less karaoke.  There are so many good songs out there that never get airplay, really fun potential karaoke songs.  Certainly didn't mean to p#ss anyone off.  I still believe that (if there ever is a ruling) that it will allow for a 1:1 ratio of disc to HDD rip.

I'm with you on that... I had some custom tracks made, which are licenced for public performance... they are not karaoke tracks as they have no graphics/lyrics, rather professional backing tracks.  Not a cheap way to get tracks, but if you really want a backing of a song that is not available then it's a good way to go.
