I have a large collection of karaoke files that I am trying to organize.
I would like a program that can scan the files and pull out or highlight any that have more than one vocal part. Then I could list those songs in a "Duets" section of my booklet.
Are there any karaoke apps that can do this?
Thanks

If the information was marked in the ID3 tags of an MP3, in some sort of consistent way, I could easily write a script which would do it.
I am not sure if any book programs do it, but I suspect they may have some support. I know that MTU Hoster's book function can do a duets-only section. Of course this relies on having input the information, which is not done automatically on import.
So in short, the problem is not doing it, it is in having the songs marked in the proper way.

The song book program Music Book Deluxe has their songs listed by category, one is Duets. While it's not perfect, it does show you where a lot of the duets are in your library. I believe you can export MBD songbooks, so if you bought MBD, I think you could use MBD to make a duet songbook, export it, and used it as a lookup table to match your files.

This is how I do it!
I load All my Discs and MP3+G downloads into CDGFix. (Approx. 50,000)
I Rename them from KJ Pro's Database. Now "Duet" is displayed in the title.
I export them to a 500GB External HD for Karaoke. I group them by Manufacture and Disc.
Now that the Tracks are Perfectly Tagged and Backed Up on my external HD,
I load them into KJ File Manager. Select Search, Duet... Now only the Duet
Tracks are displayed. Highlight All, Select Move, move them to a newly created
file called "Duets."
NOTE: To load tracks into KJ File Manager FAST... Select do not Rename.
You can do the same for Duplicates too.
Hope This Helps,
Kind Regards,
sw00000p

Has KJpro fixed their database?
I used version 1.5 and there were a lot of songs that KJPro didn't mark as duets.

KJ Pro 2.5 is Much More Accurate. They've added Many New Features and Corrections since 1.5.
There's a Tab that displays the Add Ons and Corrections.
Nevertheless, No Database will Remain Perfect...
Because the Manufactures are Always Changing things around.
KJ Pro does on Heck of a Job Trying to Keep up with the constant changes.
I Bounce between KJ Pro & FastTracks Databases...
KJ Pro is by Far More Accurate.
Yeah, I purchased both of them!
Kind Regards,

It looks like CDGFix may work for me... not sure. I checked their website, but still didn't get the answers.
I have used Tag and Rename, an id3 tag editor, to rename most of my files so that they are in "Artist Name - Song Name" format. I am still in the process of eliminating duplicates and correcting errors. Does CDGFix need the original file names in order to properly tag them from the KJ Pro database?
There should be aa player or an app that can scan the cdg file to check for multiple colors, or multiple parts.... may be a nice project for someone who can program.

orthofunk,
Learn The Basics First! - ID Tag Your Files Correctly!
If your going to use Tag & Rename....
Include the Disc ID in the ALBUM section (%3):
Use A Mask Such As This: %3 - %6 - %2 - %1
%3 = Album (Disc ID)
%6 = Track Number
%2 = Title
%1 = Artist
Tag & Rename
(F10) Get Album Titles from Amazon/TrackType.org
(F9) Get Album Titles from Freedb ( SUCKS)
SONG BOOK DATABASE:
To utilize a Songbook Database, your Tracks need a point of Reference!
Such As Disc ID and Track Number.
Is the "Point of Reference Thing" Sinking In Yet??
Good Luck finding a program that looks for Duet Colors.
Kind Regards,
sw00000p

Diamond D,
Your Right! KJ Pro Still Has Problems ID'ing Duets!
Even with their new features, I'm finding more and more not Tagged properly.

Double Darn!
After your last post about KJPro 2.0, I was thinking about upgrading my copy.
CDGFix does support Music Book Deluxe's database.
I think their database is better at identifying Duets.
That's what I used for my Duets section.

I do it the old fashioned way. I go in and name them manually. More acurate, more time consuming. But i know they are done right.
