Well here I go. Need a quick course on speaker hook ups. I have been told you can have 2 speakers or 4 speakers per side. what I'd like is 2 cabs and 1 sub per side.  I understand that 8 to 8 =4 ohms  and 8+8+8+8 = 2 ohms. Can I run 2 s115v and 1 sw118 sub per side with my QSC PLX 3602 amp without over heating it?

if it were me,  I would run 1 top and 1 bottom on each side. you can use an active cross over and run the tops off of one side of your amp, and bottoms off the other. look at your manual to see if it advises going to 2 ohm load on that amp. is there a reason why you want to run 4 tops? do you want more to cart around, glutten for punishment? or is it an odd shaped room where 4 speakers will spread the sound better?

We have a couple of venues that are two rooms a bar and a dance floor. One is long and narrow and the sound dies half way down the room. Plus I want it to sound "Live". I played in a band and we never seemed to have trouble getting the sound out.

This could create all kinds of sound problems. It's not like having speakers from a juke box in different rooms. Odd shaped rooms are notorious for sound problems. Now you add multiple speakers separated from each other, and your asking for trouble.
