WHAT? Your trip is cancelled !! Why ?
I am not happy right now. Put some new batteries in that broom of yours and get your bum over here.
I hope everything is okay. Now I'm worried.

On the West Coast in NZ, 91 Octane hit $1.979/ litre a day or so ago. That's $7.50 per US Gallon!
Don't know what the complaining is all about in the US.... they got a long way to go!
And my country is a net exporter of oil. The fed. gov't CLAIMED that the gas price is being subsidized by the government; RM 20 billion per year is what it cost the government in gas subsidies.
On the tot of that, cars are extremely expensive. The price of a Proton is 2 to 3x the average annual income of typical office workers. Imported cars are loaded with 200 to 300% tax.
And you guys are complaining.

Isn't your import tax supposed to drop to 5% this year Jian?
That means you can buy a Harley!

Yes only on a few low model automobiles. But they increased the sale tax correspondingly.
A Harley is about RM150,000.00 to RM200,000.00 in Malaysia. That is what my house is worth!!!

Gas wouldn't be such an issue if public transporation were available everywhere. In my area we do not have public transport. I have to drive 20 miles to Dallas or ft. worth to catch a bus or 4 or miles mikes to catch a train so I can catch a bus. If I was to ride a bike to the train station I would probably be run over as there are not any bike lanes and I would have to go on a really major Hiway to get there.
Not sure why the suburbs will not get with the program and get bus service. I always wanted to live in an area where their is public transport all over. In arlington tx where they are building the new Dallas Cowboys stadium there is not any public transport. So to see the game people will have to drive their cars. It will be ugly trafic. I can say specifically that this town has more than 500k people living in it. It is land locked. They do not want bus service because they do not want unsavory people to come to their town. That is just nuts!!!
Ok I am done with my rant.

I remember in the early 70's I worked in a Chevron station my Junior and Senior year and gas was 23.9 cents a gallon. Then in the 1974 there was a gas shortage and they began rationing it. I'm sure many remember purchasing gas based upon odd or even license plate numbers... the gas shot up to 37.9 cents per gallon and we all thought that was an outrageous price to pay. :O
My first car could be filled up with about $4.00 of gas now I'm lucky if I get away with less than $60.00
If I did not need a SUV for towing my Bass Boat, and transporting my equipment to gigs I would drive something that would get 30+ MPG.
My full time position is in Sales and I drive 3000-3500 miles per month my gas bill last month was just under $600.....Just for Gas! $7200 per year! It's sure making me look closely at my earnings -vs- expenses. I may have to go back to a desk job or find a company that reimburses for fuel.

Lionev.com is selling Ford Rangers totally converted to electric with a beginning range of 200 miles per charge for $40 grand. Originally they were $30 grand, but they're not getting the discounts on the new/used engines, labor's gone up, prices for the equipment, batteries... etc. They also sell Ford Escapes converted for about the same price. and the Escape as a HYBRID for close to the same price.
Many of the available electric cars are mostly NEV (Neighborhood Electric Vehicles) that don't go more than 25-35 miles per hour... and have a limited range.
There's a new company called spark-ev.com that sells a number of vehicles. Many are still pending approval by NHTSA guidelines. They have one car called the Metropolis that has the potential for 55mph, but until it's approved. Only has a 55 mile range, but it's $10 grand!
The one from them I LOVE is the Zoyte. http://www.spark-ev.com/zotye.html
110+ miles, full speed capable. and only $29,500!

Bad news. They might not be selling cars for a while.
Quote: Spark EV's Michael Papp arrested in electric vehicle scam Posted Apr 13th 2008 6:44PM by Sebastian Blanco Filed under: Etc., EV/Plug-in, Green Daily
Thanks to our reader Mike, we have an update to share about the troubled history of Michael Papp electric vehicle company. Regular readers will remember that Papp is the man behind Spark EV, a company that has been accused more than once of shady dealings. It looks like the New Jersey law officials agree, and have decided to step in to put a stop to Papp's scam.
According to the Express Times, Papp was arrested Friday after failing to deliver 14 electric vehicles to Electric Cars of Houston (which had ordered 10) and Electric Transportation of Arkansas (four). Papp is charged with bilking them for almost $100,000, according to court records. The EVs were paid for in January and February, and Papp told the payers the vehicles would be delivered March 14. They weren't. After trying to track down what happened, the companies asked for a refund. Papp answered that he was filing for bankruptcy, so no go. Apparently, Papp is in Northampton County Prison and being held on $20,000 bail. We'll have more on this as things move forward, I can guarantee you that.
