I made a 45 mile drive to see Dusty's son do his Friday Night gig, the closest one to me.

I must say, it was the most impressive show I've seen in person yet with the level of interaction with the singers and how much "extras" the KJ does.  No doubt about, they have the competition beat.  Too bad all the hacks keep trying to steal the show.

I'll have to implement a couple of things you guys do into my shows.  I recommend that everybody travel a bit to see other KJ shows that go above and beyond your local competition.

Great job Blue Rose, now I REALLY know what it means to be a great KJ!

:hi5: Thank you for the praise, we enjoyed having you visit, and picked up a few ideas from you too.  It’s too bad all KJ’s can’t support each other, it would definitely improve the image. Let me know where your going to be hosting, would love to return the visit.

many of us DO feel that's the way to be. Yet the doomsayers like SW or BD always think that those you help are going to try to steal your gigs.

Well, that's not an issue here.  The most I'm willing to drive for a gig is 30 miles.  With gas prices the way they are, it's hard to go much further than that.  Plus, I'll be focusing SOUTH while Blue Rose is NORTH.  I think it's easier to help each other out when you know that there really isn't a risk of stealing a show.  Some of the local KJ's, I wouldn't DREAM of asking for help or advise.  Not until I built a good business relationship with them at least.  Then maybe.

I think this says a lot about your proffessionalism and personal integrity Purple

:drums:  Yes SW, you have helped me, as have many on this forum.  And I greatly appreciate all the advice and technical help I have received from fellow members. I don’t think most members here would try and steal another KJ.s gigs, I do detect, from most, a code of ethics that prevents them from doing so.  Not to mention, geographically, we are a very diverse membership.  I would love to be able to visit the shows of some of the KJ’s that post here, including yours.  I think it was great of purpletib to post such a flattering critique of my son’s show, I just hope someday I can be as comfortable as my son is behind the mic. He, purpletib, sang several songs at the show, and I can see where he is going to be a success in his area.  His books are very well put together, and has a good selection of songs, and a very professional manner.  Best of luck to you Purpletib. .     :dancin:

Not to mention, geographically...true the chances of a job stealing competition KJ being on here are slim.

If you are in an area that has little or no competition, consider yourself very lucky.  Where the competition is tight, believe me it's dog eat dog.  You could have many KJs knocking on the exact same bar door, at the same time for the same job.

Bar owners not being the smartest creatures on earth, more often than not will make a bad decision with the one they end up picking (Guarantee they picked the cheapest one.)   Then several months down the road they do away with karaoke night and the excuse is..."We tried karaoke and it didn't work."    Correctomundo....BECAUSE YOU PICKED THE BIGGEST CHEAPEST JERK OF THE BUNCH.   :O   You got exactly what you paid for.      Once that happens you will never get hired to do karaoke there for free... LMAO

Yes, purple is a variant of blue, if that’s what your referring to.  I had never met him until he walked into the show last Friday.  Although, purpletib is a very nice young man. If you are trying to give me another kid, I have seven already, no thanks.

great for you guys!

Last week fri when my show had died by 1am I packed quickly and made a 5 mile out of my way run to a nearby town so I could meet a KJ who had stopped at one of my shows when I was out sick. Her and her husband were really excited to meet me, and she immediately asked for my help in helping her choose what to buy and how to set it to improve that system (that one is a bar owned system). Talk bout a complement! they both said they have never heard a karaoke system that sounds as good as mine! We do a lot of shows in the same area, so its good to have that mutual respect. They plan to stop in to my thursday  show from time to time.  I believe its easyer to get along and trust than to hate and dis.

I too wish there were other members here who were closer to me. my nearest are 2 hours either way.

That's great when it happens.  Wait until you both try to get the same gig at the new bar in town.    Then it will be the best price or the best over all KJ.  Who wins the gig will be anyones guess.    But one of you will walk away the loser.
