The Black Widows are power hungry. They come in both 8 ohm & 4 ohm designs so this will greatly affect which amp you will want to get - double check to find out for sure. Their newer 8 ohm 18"ProRider requires 2400 watts PROGRAM power.
Most of their older Black Widow cabs @ 8 ohms would need an amp capable of 1000 watts per side into 8 ohms.

Ok so do run them mono bridged? If you do this, it would drop their ohms to 4 & would need an amp that can push 2000 watts into 4 ohms bridged. Alot more options for amp choices doing it this way.

If you are running one amp for the subs, you may as well run it mono bridged. Sub frequencies are non directional anyway so there is no benefit to running the subs in stereo at all - plus like said this will also open up your choices for amp alot more than trying to find one that pushes 1000 watts per channel into 8 ohms without spending some big bucks.
Do you have a crossover or is one built into the speaker itself or does your current amp have a low pass filter built in?
Here are some amp choices that will push 2000 watts into 4 ohms bridged. Trying to keep the price somewhat comparable as well.
No Low Pass Filter Built in:
http://www.musiciansfriend.com/product/ ... sku=487210 - 2500 watts at 4 ohms bridged.
http://www.musiciansfriend.com/product/ ... sku=481582 - 1900 watts 4 ohms bridge
http://www.musiciansfriend.com/product/ ... sku=481565 - 2400 4 ohm bridge.
https://www.carvinguitars.com/products/ ... ct=DCM2000 - 2000 watts 4 ohm bridge - KILLER AMP BTW!
Low pass filter built in:
http://www.musiciansfriend.com/product/ ... sku=481589 - 2000 4 ohm bridge - PLUS weighs only 17 pounds, this also has some other internal eq adjustments that can be used.

I use a peavey cs-800 amp to power my black widow 18"s which I use as bottoms and a peavey cs-400 to power the peavey bubble butt tops.
I run an old peavey eight channel mixing board to a peavey active crossover and then to the speakers.
This old amp puts out plenty of power for the black widows. They crank out solid bass. The only down side is the weight. These amps are real work horses and are available on ebay and in pawn shops. If you get one be sure not to set it down on the end as you will break the bananna speaker outputs. By the way they are easily replaced. Parts are still available.

Mine EP2500 didn't work out. Mckj57 has had better luck if I remember right.
Like my Yamaha P7000s for running subs. Although I'm not doing this for karaoke, I've run it 4 ohm bridged before with no problems. Compared to my QSC PLXs it runs very cool. 25 pounds.
If you do a bit of on-line shopping you can find them for significantly below MAP. I paid $535 for mine but that was a few years ago. A pretty good deal for that much power in a switchmode amp. Don't know what they are now.

EP2500 amps receive great reviews, and are regularly used by professional live sound companies. George's Pro Sound, whose owner regularly posts on alt.pro.live-sound, swears by them. They seem to have reliability not dissimilar to Crown and QSC amps from my observations. You can make the determination yourself by examining reviews on musiciansfriend.com and looking at the newsgroup postings.
All amps go on occasion -- it is not difficult for even a pro to have an anomaly which blows a channel.
All in all, the EP2500 and the DEQ2496 are two products that Behringer provides which are generally accepted to be excellent.

I have heard good things about the Behringer Amps. -- I confess that I did purchase a EP1500 awhile back from MF. The very next week they had a great sale on CROWN and for the same price I did return the Behringer for the Crown
If the price is the same I would go Crown but I have no problems using Behringer Equipment

Samson is their own entity.
I personally won't use Behringer if I don't have to. I will save up to buy a more quality piece. Yes they will work, they will get loud, but don't sound very good IMO. But then sound is completely ear dependant. I like Carvin power amps over alot in their price range, some won't touch them - alot more because they can't buy from an actual store, they are pretty much manu deliver only than actual sound quality & performance.

Seems Carvin has a very good reputation among Pro users. I've read enough good things that I wouldn't hesitate to get Carvin gear.

They make a great amp & their speakers are pretty good too. Our band's sound guy had a complete Carvin PA from the Mixer - through the processors - amps & speakers - dual 18" subs & double 15" 3 ways tops quad amped & the sound was amazing. That's what sold me on Carvin originally. I have one more power amp in my rack to replace & I will have all Carvin amps.

Please;don't even compare B with Crown and QSC. If you want real solid Audio pro people go to this forum and see what they think of the B product.

Jian - do you have a suggestion for the original poster or just felt the need to contradict someone who suggested Behringer ? The Behringer Amps are just as Good but less expensive than the Crown XL series amps .... If you compare them to the TOP OF THE LINE QSC than of course there is no comparison. I've done some research and given a choice most people would choose a Crown or QSC over a Behringer based soley on what others post who NEVER used the products.
Behringer offers a very good product at an affordable price stucture. There are always BETTER and more expensive products out there. It isn't the price you pay for your equipment that makes a good or succesful KJ.
