odie its one of the drawbacks of singsnap. anything recorded with that online prog sounds remote and tinny.
He has got adobe but hasnt used it, I feel if he used that and recorded his vocals on seperate track then mixed efx in before mixing down, he would sound so much better and so much more real.
Personally I feel singsnap does a lot of damage

Fact is (you two), I was going for a more remote sound and
Treble- 8-9
mid- 7
bass- 2-4
and reverb setting cranked to 6-8 both post and fx level..
For some reason, to MY ear.. I sound better with bass down.. Might be frequency loss on my part due to decades of standing in front of amp stacks and volumes that always caused nerve deafness (and now some appears permanent, yet not sure).. Probably tinitus of the left ear... Bass sounds washed to me, and I believe I'm trying to use treble and mids to get a cutting timber (as opposed to a hollow nasally timbre I have naturally that I hate).. I'll take a photo and show you the mixer settings. This might account for it.. I won't blame the forum for my doing.. I've cut bass deliberately. I guess this is what Odie meant by "dryer reverb setting".

UPDATE:
Been practicing daily, and now have an additional half octave of upper range.. IE... Today
(I know there is pitch matching issues with this song, yet this was a first take. To fine tune this pushing the upper notes -no longer being falsetto'd but sung all in real voice- would take some time yet this is an example of what's going on in my life)
http://www.singsnap.com/snap/watchandli ... y/abddb756
For haha's I retried the first song I submitted when I sang in public for the first time this past november (back before I was audible with anything except a stethoscope. With the exce[tion of a few deliberate areas, once again, real voice as opposed to falsetto.. (I think) might be more headvoice than I realize, I can't really tell, yet this was all projected from gut area.. except for one or two deliberate shifts into falsetto
http://www.singsnap.com/snap/watchandli ... y/af99f342
During the harder rock break "When my fist clenches crack it open" portion, the congestion or nasal sound becomes evident, and I've got to get rid of that somehow. I can't stand it.

Days later I was able to more objectively listen to the song keeping in mind some of the Critiques I received and trying to rectify the problems, so I transposed song down realizing what I was being told is 100% accurate, higher notes were VERY rough and strained, Why I didn't hear this initially, I haven't a clue. I would have if I was listening to another singer. This is the greatest aspect of critique, we can't be as objective at times regarding our own work. This still needs A LOT of work, however I have a foundation to work with now

I decided to once again try something WAY over my head. I tend to do these things..Anyway..How do I know if this works or not since I can't hear my voice ? I tried to blend headvoice and chestvoice into harmony but also sing SOME melody here

Here's a different attempt at straighter singing, might only be 75% off, might be closer to 100% off, I can't tell.. Thanks
http://www.singsnap.com/snap/watchandli ... /b011a5cf8
biggest problem I'm having at this point (I think) is that I'm trying to be a "Cover" singer.. Yet I can't sing yet. This might be problematic.
Why isn't anybody else using this critique thread ? <scratching head>

I spoke to my buddy OK What Now, yesterday, and he mentioned I'm putzing around but not getting with the plan, basically he mentioned I need to keep it simple, practice Mary Had a Little Lamb, Do, Re, Mi-- and scales, and I should get coaching up here..
Well, I decided rather than all that, I'd rather just start singing... That other stuff is too much like work. Now naturally he's 100% correct, BUT... It's just easier to sing, and forget that other stuff..

Is Kenny Rogers, "Ruby, Don't take your love to town" too far over my head to even attempt again Billy ?

Need to stick to songs that are around A in my comfort range I think
I also never realized how tough it is just to sing a single octave scale hitting each note close to pitch.. NOT easy.

Just finished another one week tour. (btw not with Boston, I got fired- yep it's true.. Something about me filling in with other bands and breach of contract).. Oh Well, Just did a few duo's.. Here's one. Weirdest thing, When I showed up he didn't recognise me from the 70's. Felt like a stranger. Dash Croft was always a loose screw anyway

This is the *first* song I can honestly say I LIKE the sound of my blend in, and even my quirky voice.. Yet the thing about Loggins and Messina is they didn't comventionally have the best singing voices.. So here's Kappy and Messina..Yet it's in a comfort area, singing evenly with another vocalist in a duo situation. I don't have the mindset to solo.

I was fortunate enough to get tremendously helpful feedback on Tears In Heaven. and WOW, trying to put two and two and two together to get this song was TOUGH.. I think it still only adds up to about 3 1/2.. ![LOL LOL](./images/smilies/emot-LOL.gif) .. But storytelling suffered when I tried working on diction and phrasing, add to that dynamics and I was totally off pitch.. So this is an attempt at anunciation, diction, phrasing, dynamics, staying somewhat on pitch and I've probably no longer told the story.. ![LOL LOL](./images/smilies/emot-LOL.gif) .. Welp, still trying to fine tune and it has LONG to go.. Once again, thanks for feeedback and all is welcome ! I got really tense doing this... I also noticed something VERY interesting.. I was singing better when focusing the last verse, so to me, this meant I felt more confident that I was almost done with the song, so I didn't accept that, figured I need to TRY to sing stronger thru the whole song... OK, time to go sleepy

I think I got myself into trouble here, I can't hear myself, yesterday was one of those 14 hour + days trying to sing... Since I'm not powering stuff, I feel no strain, but I'm at least starting to get used to my voice.. I think, still can't tell.. I think if I can get used to it's weirdness, at that point I might figure out what to do with it.. Yet, I also think the mix is better with headphones ( I was doing this with headphones late last night), with speakers and singing louder, I'm not doing any better, in fact it's worse.

Another thing-
I can easily handle all critique, comments and criticism in open (regarding attempts at singing), I honestly have NO ego defending me here, my goal isn't to compete, it's just to be able to barely pass and establish SOME foundation. I accept myself as a TOTAL newbie, and somebody only trying to learn, so what is, is... In leaving critique here, it might enable others to realize that SOME of us truly want it, and those (if any) following the process might even learn that critique DOES SERVE A PURPOSE of helping another person only, and is not an ego, or retaliatory process..
What this might also do is enable others to recognise if this is something THEY actually want in the Showcase, or not.
I believe my outlook on the process here is similar to Jians outlook, (as well as the outlook of several others).. This process CAN help others with their own singing just by seeing how the mechanics of development can work in a singing area
Thanks !
Again, have no fear about being totally honest and open IN the open in here !

I realize it's difficult for some to understand this, but those of us that wish nothing more than to EARN our way up the "singing" latter honestly (even if it means staying in the 1st grade forever) get confused by praise and fluff... Critique believe it or not- makes us feel better..
Nope, this is NOT like Mike Tyson getting angry when a boxer doesn't hit him..It's not masochistic believe it or not.. but it is real and can help ALL that respect the fact that FEW of us are "9" and "10" rank average singers...Now I've raised my goal from a 3 to a "6" someday !

Kappy, if it helps, I sang for years to get to the point where I am now. I only consider myself to be a 6 or a 7. Some of us can only get so good. If I quit smoking my range would improve but not my quality.
I've been trying to help when I can, offering encouragement and what it sounds like you need to work on at the time. I don't ever mean to sound like I'm fluffing you. That said, your voice is really improving and I am so glad that I can hear you now above the backing. I used to practice filling my lungs to the point that it hurt. I would then sing with all that air. Once you get used to it, it will give you more control.
Your last sub sounded like you needed more air in your lungs to help support the notes. That may be the problem or it may be the fatigue that you mentioned or a combination of the two.
BTW- On singsnap, I'm Mardukk. ![wave ](./images/smilies/emot-wave.gif)

![LOL LOL](./images/smilies/emot-LOL.gif) , Hey Chuck, and I thanked you for your comment... Much appreciated because a few days later I listened to ALL of these, and they were weak, so I decided to belt.. and I've got a few tonight, one takes.. and one is a spoof, in fact as bad as showcase... Look what I got kudos on..HAHAHAHAHAHA... obviously she never listened to the song.
This is a Ross Perot trying to sing Bob Dylan.
