all,
I was using the cdgplugin with winamp 5.5, but put an older version of winamp on. Anyways, the text in the cdgplugin used to be big so that I could see it across the room, but now it is only about half an inch in size even in full screen. I cannot seem to locate anything that would allow me to change it, even though it used to be that way. Does anyone know how to change this? Thanks a ton!

did you redo the plug-in with the older version of winamp? Or keep the old plugin?

yeah the older version of winamp may have had an older plugin but if the newer plug in has better graphic then see if it will work with older winamp...should do

I have tried both old and new versions of the plugin to no avail... The plugin I had was probably 2-3 years old. Thing is, I see people at the local shows being able to display the font larger in full screen. What this does, is whether you have it full screen or 4inch by 4 inch the text stays the same size pretty much... I will have to mess with it. Im sure there has to be an install file that the font can be changed in..

How backwards did you go with an older version of Winamp....& why?
What version are you now using?
Did you try uninstalling and then reinstalling the plugin?
I have looked into the plugins configuration file and there is no font setting you can adjust.
If everything was working with version 5.5 go back to version 5.5

One other thing you could try is a complete "clean" install of winamp and plugin.
First make sure you have your CDG plugin license written down somewhere.
Uninstall Winamp and then delete the winamp folder with the left over files after the uninstall.
Reinstall winamp and plugin(s).

one thing you can do is make your secondary screen SMALLER. It shouldn't be any larger than 600x800. this will make the cdg screen LARGER, and the font larger by default.

So I was able to get things back to normal, but not until doing a clean windows install... I was using debs karaoke pro, but only wanted a zip player, so I received one with a plugin. It was sax and dotty. When I installed that things went crazy... Did not like sax much and went back to Debs. Things did not work, after uninstalling, reinstalling many times, I decided it was time to wipe the HD. Anyways, I need to find a player that uses a database like Debs, So I can load an entire directory into it. The other zip players only allow you to add the original folders that have the actual zips in it, its a pain to load up like 1100 songs this way.... Then it does not have a search feature... Is there a better zip player out there that I can get? Even if I have to buy it, frustration is taking over now... lol. What about club dj pro? Anyone use that?

Debs is probably one of the lowest cost players that meets your needs.
I like the simplicity of Debs.

All the Winamp people say it is reliable, but I hear story after story like yours. I prefer all-in-one karaoke players, of which there are now (that I know of):

JustKaraoke (bad key changer, though)
PowerKaraoke Karaoke Professional
MTU Hoster
CompuHost

CompuHost is the best, though you need to buy Siglos or some other program to do CDG playing.

Winamp is quite reliable, for people who know how to install and configure software on their computer.

For the other people that have no computer savvy at all, an all-in-one IS probably the better way to go.
But other than JustKaraoke, the other 3 programs will set you back at least $100.

Being a beta tester for PowerKaraoke, that would be the one I would recommend.
It easily meets the requirements, it's cheaper than the other two, installs with no fuss, and has quite a lot of features.

Although I'm sure a certain someone out there will find something "unreliable" about Power Karaoke also.  :O

I now own PowerKaraoke Professional as well (I could upgrade Siglos for only $50.00) so I have looked at it. Definitely a promising start, though there are quite a few rough edges compared to CompuHost.

There are some nice features, like the parentheses for hidden descriptors and the venue filter. But I find the search/add dialogs non-intuitive, and don't see how the history can be filtered for a single user. The screen layout is quite fragmented, and the scrolling display is nowhere near as good as CompuHost.

I have to still recommend CompuHost. For the $180.00 cost, the easy addition of promos for the venue and scrolling promo trailer and singer announcement features will pay for that cost in no time flat. Trying to save $80.00 on something you will dedicate hundreds of days to is false economy, in my opinion.
