I'd love to see your set-up you keep talking about. You are telling us our ego is large, yet YOU tell us that we would ALL LOSE??? C'mon, who has the ego. I was posting in response to a question & as to "where is all this equipment" come to my shows & there it all is.
& it does fit in the back of a pickup just fine ;c)

lon
There will be enough KJ's complaining enough in 6 months out in New Mexico. about thier gigs and why they are "out of work" your "guitar center & musician's friends" buddies are coming to town in march they will get to know me real well.. heh heh.. I ruined this market once.. for 3 KJ's and with 8 new systems and I have Retailer, & Manufacturer support I can & will do it again..
That's confidence.. not an ego.
I'm not a major player here but I definately am well connected.
I don't play games.. I don't allow people to get in my way.. and I do play by yhe rules.. I just let the ball roll where it may ... and I don't put up with the crap.
'nuff said.

My system for Karaoke is as follows
Mackie CFX 12 Mixer
JVC Triple Tray Karaoke Player
JBL Eon15 G2 Powered Speakers
Shure Wireless SM58
(3) Shure SM58's
I'm pretty happy with it! I owe a thanks to all you guys for helping me put it together!
At some point I am going to get a back up player -- probably a multi-format. Also, a powered monitor, an effects processor to go along with the on-board effects that the Mackie had, and a compressor/limiter.
Patrick

Yeah, ok. BTW, the Guitar Center & Musicians Friends are not "my buddies". I buy from them quite a bit.

I'm too tired from a day of ice fishing in sub-zero weather to even try and post my list of equipment that I use at my shows right now.
Brian, I think you are a bit out of line on this. Yes there is an element of ego boost when I see that my equipment stacks up favorably against someone else's, but that isn't all there is to it. When someone posts about their setup it can actually help others. It shows how much money and effort we are willing to put into making our singers sound better. It also shows that a lot of the equipment choices are personal preference, there is not one magic brand that everyone will love.
Maybe this will help people like Patrick who are just starting. They can look at this thread, get some ideas on brands and models and do some research. We make a lot of recommendations on here that aren't necessarily what we ourselves are using. This helps bring things into perspective.
Besides, if this was any other kind of forum, we would be expected to do a little bragging. Who else are we going to tell? My girlfriend wouldn't know a mixer from a speaker and really doesn't care, and if I mention karaoke one more time at work I just might get shot. So we come here and talk about it with our peers. Is that so awful?

Or you can just take his advice & spend $2500 on a power amp because that is what he "SAYS" he uses, although he has NEVER actually posted pics of his set-up. I for one am calling you on it!!!

I try to get along & help people with recommendations. If my posts are out of line or seem "egotistical", I will apologize, bow down & drop out of this forum.
BTW ice, your system is nice ;c) as is everyone elses that has been listed.

Thanks, Lon.
I think Kobey makes a good point. It is good to see what the other pros are using. And I like to brag a little about my system; I did a lot of research and spent a LOT of money, so why not? I certainly don't mean and harm in doing so.
Lets let this thing drop; I would hate to see either Lon or Brian leave the forum; their contributions are invaluable!
Kobey, I can totally relate about your girlfriend and your friends at work getting sick of hearing about equipment and karaoke!!
too funny!
Patrick

Ice is using my same system except I have the EMX 5000 yamaha instead of the mackie. Plus I have a dvd/vcd/cdg/mp3/jpeg/cdr/cdrw backup player JUST in case. Also carry a recorder so I can listen to my mistakes on the way home. Smart move with the JBL's. My second system is all peavey plus the goodies.

Hey Metal,
What do you use to record? I was looking into picking up something if the price is right.
Love the JBL's! Although one of them makes a bit of a funny sound when no signal is going to it. It makes this kind of 'flutter' sound, almost sounds like wind outside. It sounds fine when playing music through it, though. I am thinking of getting a replacement.
