Hi everyone,

You experts can help me... I set up a system for karaoke and the speakers kept making buzz sound whenever I moved the microphone a tiny bit or sing close to the microphone..

Can someone please tell me what's going on?

I have a SONY receiver with alot of vidieo inputs, CDs, Phones and home threate functions. I hooked it up with my DVD player which it also has a microphone input.

The speakers I have are Boss Series 5..

It seems there are a lot of interference, but I'm not sure what cause it. Please help. Thanks

welcome to you :) you will probably get more input if you post this question in the tech section. I would suspect that they will tell you never to sing thru a home the4atre system as the speakers are not set up to cope with live vocals :)

I will try it again. What are the speakers were made for Karaoke?  I'm a noob and I appreciate if someone could elabrate alittle more for me. Thanks in advance.

Home theater systems are not really suitable for karaoke, they are designed to play pre-recorded music, not the high transient signal levels of live vocals.

All depends on how much you are willing to spend and what your intended use is. Probably the best thing to do is buy a PA package like:

 http://www.musiciansfriend.com/product/Phonic-Powerpod-620-Plus-S712-PA-Package?sku=630487

Some examples of systems are at:

 http://www.musiciansfriend.com/navigation/live-sound-packaged-systems?N=100001%2b304603&Ns=P_Price%7c0&page=1

At that point, you can hook up your DVD or computer to it, and produce karaoke that can be done for a good-sized party or function.

If you are going to just practice at home and you don't care about sound quality, get a cheap karaoke machine like the VocoPro Duet or GigMan or something. Or even a magic microphone, which has given some people their start.
