Hi
I got some cdg files that, because of wrong lyrics or bad sync, I'd like to edit, but i don't know how. The only program I've found is EditCDG, but i can't even understand how to start working with it, and it seems pretty slow.
Neither Karaoke Builder Studio nor Karaoke CD+G Creator can edit existing cdg files. Is there any software out there, other than EditCDG, to fix that cdg problems?
Thanks in advance.

NOPE
for karaoke builder studio, which I have good experience with... (Robdog is the God of KBS), even for simple text syncing, it takes about 30 mins PER song... and that's IF you know it WELL!!! If you only have a few damaged songs, then it's ok...
if you have LOTS... you are better off just dealing with the errors...

There was another but the name escapes me.

Dart karaoke, but don't think it can do anything like the OP wants in timely manners.

I don't know of any existing software other than those mentioned. I was wondering about your sync problem. Is it that the existing file is playing a bit ahead or behind the music at the same rate throughout the song, or is it sometimes ahead and sometimes behind? If it's just out of sync that would be pretty easy to fix.

exweedfarmer, a fragment of the cdg file is out of sync. Probably the guy pressing the spacebar got a bit tired, my guess LOL For example, that happens in Sound Choice's version of the song Loser (Beck).
Anyway, I think DannyG made my day. CDGFix seems to be the software I was looking for. Thanks a lot

A constant out of sync is easily fixed by loading the mp3 in multitrack software and eliminating or adding silence at the start to advance or delay. If the difference is slight this can also be used for partial segments.
I have seldom used the graphics for timing but just glance at them and time on my own.. I think sometimes too much emphasis is placed upon sync.

MTU Hoster allows changing the sweep to speed it up or slow it down..>Great feature for some of these discs where they really got it wrong. Just have to remember to adjust it back to 'zero' at the end of the song. Probably not a good reason to invest in it if you don't have it ... just pointing out the capability. It's a nice one.

Well, the sync issue is not constant and, i guess, it's due to an error of the guy (if there's a guy doin' that) synchronizing words and music. He got lost for two screens (6 rows each) of text so he started pressing the spacebar randomly like nuts (if you use karaoke builder or karaoke cd+g creator you know what i mean) so, if you don't know the lyrics, you're lost too.
Of course, i won't do that cdg fixing if it was for a lot of files. I'm not a kj, just a home user.

Trust Me! If you can't comphrend EditCDG... Don't Even Think About using CDGFix. It is Far More Complicated!
Use Power Karaoke Creator and Re-Do it from Scratch!
It's Very User Friendly!

I know that, sw00000p, i've done some cdg's from scratch with karaoke cd+g creator (same as power karaoke creator) or karaoke builder, but using an instrumental version of a song instead of a karaoke version because there's none available.
But in this case we are talking about an existing mp3+g version, credit goes to Sound Choice, and i just want to fix it.
After overviewing both editcdg and cdgfix, i think cdgfix it's easier. At least, there's more information on screen to start with. So doing the cdg from scratch will be my last resort if nothing else works.

tricky2k,
That's the Spirt! Then CDGFix is your solution.
If your Track is 1 or 2 Pages Out-Of-Syn.. Your Wasting Your Time!
NOTE: If your Track has More Than 500 Errors... I would throw it in the Trash.
For Starting: Tile Block, Xor, Packets, Blocks
Learn what these are. Read EditCDG thouroughly because the
CDGFix Online Help is not Completed yet.
It sounds Scary at fist. Basically you'll load your tracks into cdgfix
and run the Scan File Tool. All errors will become Visible on a List.
Click on the list and It'll take you Right To The Error. Replace
the Command, Repair/Adjust C O L O R S
AND make sure your on the Right Channel.
Use the Time Line Tool to Adjust/Trim Audio & Lyrics!
Hope This Helps!

tricky2k,
EditCDG is an Older Program and CDGFix has Much Easier Ways to Repair.
BUT...... EditCDG has The Instructions to Understand CDG.
CDGFix Doesn't YET. But Soon to Come.
Please Don't Put The Horse Before the Cart! Learn how CDG WORKS!
Then CDGFix will be a BREEZE!
TIP: As you read the EditCDG instruction (Valuable Information) for example,
Repair. It will take you through a lengthy process to repair Spots or Broken Text.
In CDGFix you'll simply play the track, Stop when you see an Error, Hit Cntrl T,
Click on error spot, Dialog Box opens, Change Color, channnel, position..
All in one Shot. AND MUCH MUCH MORE!
So it's Vital you learn the Basics or you won't have a Clue of what to do in CDGFix!
PLEASE DON'T THINK THAT CDGFIX IS GOING TO GIVE YOU A STEP-BY-STEP TUTORIAL!!!!
IT AIN'T THAT KIND OF PARTY
Kind Regards,
sw00000p

Thanks for your support, sw00000p :)
BTW, i just registered in cdgfix forums and i see you asked something similar... two years ago :D
You're right, cdgfix online help is incomplete, precisely for the two items i'll probably need the most, "Repair with single steps and breakpoints" and "Fix out-of-sync issues".
Well, i hope i can understand properly all that stuff about xor, tile blocks and such. Unfortunately, english is not my first language (fourth indeed). That's why i'd also want to apologize if i seem rude sometimes, not my intention, but my lack of english skills.
Edit: I've seen now your last reply. Thanks a lot, i'll do that. I know that starting from scratch would be easier and faster, but this is kind of a challenge ![yes ](./images/smilies/emot-nod.gif)

Go Get 'Em Pal.
It's obvious you got a lot Upstairs, speaking 4 languages, your puntuation and
word usage are appropriate.
I only Speekady the Engrish and I Pulled My Hair Out for 6 months
trying to understand. With No Guide. Gotta Read.
Personally, because I'm good at Sync'ing... I'd create a new one.
The Challenge: Go For It!
GOOD LUCK
