$180.00 for a dress is not bad at all! I paid $400.00 for my daughters prom dress last year. I think the flower shops around here decide to make all their money during homecoming, valentines day, and prom. You cant get a small coursage here for less than 45 dollars. I told my daughter this year, she could wear that high dollar dress again! My wife and daughters thought that was just terrible to have her do that. I told her the alternative was to get a job! She wore the dress! I will have to try and put a picture of her and the dress up in here if I can.--Mike

You know, going through the photos and deciding which ones to post, I was wondering who first would make a comment about how *stern* Jory looks:) The ones where they were goofing off weren't the best shots of Cheyenne, and I was bragging on her, not her date. LOL
He's a nice kid... I don't know if it's a teenage guy thing or what, but the pics of my son with his g/f are the same... she's smiling, he looks like he's about to literally die.
Ah well. Maybe I intimidated him? (muahaha... I certainly hope so)
Steven- Nope, wasn't Lonnie putting the scare in him, he wasn't there. So, I guess it had to be me.
Mike? $400 for the dress? Wow... that's hefty, but, they only graduate and have senior prom once. Actually, my daughter is a junior, so I do still have her senior prom to look forward to. (this was her b/f's senior prom) I didn't pay for this one- she did. I'll pay next year:) Her b/f paid part of it too... and I think she did pretty good, price wise. It was a lot of money for a teenager to shell out, but heck- she has a good job, so does he, and they did their own choosing. Haha, we went in to Mariposa, saw the $3-$400 price tags, and she was like "Yeah, right, I'm not spending THAT much for a one-night dress". I was agast at what she DID spend. Silly old fashioned Walmart mom that I am;) But other than looking online, you really couldn't find a decent one much less than $200. Luckily, JCPenny's had an awesome sale that day, so she got a pretty nice one for the price.
Off to lunch.... enjoyed everyone's pics. (even that fugly one Kappy posted) LMAO

Oh Mandi - your daughter looks like a princess. Love the dress !
The kids took a limo to the prom. My daughter's friend's parents spent $800 on it.
The girls have it the roughest. The boys rent a tux, by flowers and prom tickets. The tickets this year were $50. The girls have dress, shoes, purse, garter, hair and make up.

$800 for the Limo? They all drove this year, but last year at my son's senior prom him and about 4 other couples all pitched in for a Limo... but it seems like each couple paid like $80 each. Things must be much more expensive there. The prom tickets here were $25 each or $50 for a couple... (and by the way, WHO would buy a single ticket to go to prom by themselves? never heard of such a thing.. but maybe some do)
Yeah, girls are for sure more costly. (again, glad I had only one of those to my 3 sons) Even when buying school clothes, the boys need a pair of tennis shoes and maybe some work-type boots for winter. She needed tennis shoes, uggs, pumps, strappy heels, sandals, oxfords, platforms... all in various colors:) I'm probably exagerating a bit, LMAO , my daughter is not finicky, nor is she the spoilt kind who wants everything in sight... but girls do seem to need more in general. Add in purses, makeup, jewelry...
Babs, when are you going to become a grandma? Is that years off? Is this daughter pictured your oldest? Can I think of any more questions? haha

Sure we're proud, or we wouldn't be here posting pics and babbling about our kids:)
(just don't get me started on my grandkids again, Lol, it's been a while since I put any pics of them in my gallery)
Thanks Melinda.

I'm suprised $400 is alot for a dress, Suits cost me $300-$400 when I was in my 20's. Doesn't seem like alot of money for a gown that's fitted, hemmed, and something a guy can sneak under for a quicky !!

That's exactly what it is.. WE HATE that part of dances and proms.. When the mommy wants to take photos... Few teenage guys like that part AT ALL.. In fact most dread it with a passion.. That's what I hated about my prom, JDmeisters mom wanted to take photos of her, and I just wanted to get that dang thing over with.. In fact, I never wanted to go but she told me her daddy was rich. I don't recollect it all, I was pretty high most of the time back in those days, in fact I didn't even have my first star in here !

perhaps I need to start a school for boys and teach them how to behave for photographs, how to speak when spoken to instead of grunt and how to make a girl feel like she is the most important thing in the world

My oldest is 21 yrs old. I'm not going to be a grandma anytime soon. My girls are both career bound. I'm in no hurry to see them marry off and have kids. I'd rather they learn to take care of themselves first.

That looks like fun! For some reason or another, though, the picture isn't showing up in my reply. Beautiful pic, though!
