Three Dog Night songs I've heard in karaoke:

Joy to the World
Never Been to Spain
Black and White
One Man Band
One
Old Fashioned Love Song
Out in the Country*
Liar
Shambala
Show Must Go On
Family of Man

I've got the Chartbusters CDG90239R Three Dog Night cdg, which has all of these songs but One Man Band.

Living in the Pacific Northwest, I've always liked Out in the Country, since I think it captures the spirit of the wilderness.

Till Then is most often available in the original version done by the Mills Brothers (from back in the 40's).  There were a couple of successful covers done in the 50's that were also hits.  The version I prefer was done by the Classics in the 60's.  I guess we all have preferred versions when it comes to songs with several popular covers.

Similarly, I prefer the Crewcut's version of Sh-boom and avoid the Chord's version of it.

Driz & Laura

Checking out Three Dog Night, I have several, more than I imagined, of their tracks.  I think I'll try to figure which of my singers would be good at some of them and start making recommendations for singing 3 Dog.  And, of course, when Laura gets here I can rely on her to perform them.

Thanx

Last Friday's songlist

Love Me- Elvis
Misty Mountain Hop- Led Zeppelin (at my wife's request)
The Mob Rules- Black Sabbath
Little Sister- Elvis
How Do You Sleep?- John Lennon

Funny thing is, I normally don't do many Elvis songs, but I was having some fun with a friend of mine who is a huge Elvis fan.  The look on her face when I broke out "Love Me" was priceless.

Wednesday night I sang

Doolin-Dalton, Eagles
(Whatever happened to) Saturday Night, Eagles
Out of Control, Eagles
And I Love Her, Beatles
Good Morning Starshine, Oliver

The Eagles songs are all off their Desperado album--a great concept album.  I think they made short movie out of it once, but it deserves to be the soundtrack for a feature film.

Someone else sang Sun Spot by Bob Seger, which was the first time I'd heard that song sung in karaoke, and also Suddenly by Billy Ocean--first time I've heard that one too.

Yes, that's the one!   Dooby-dibby-dabba Nooby-nibba-nabba La-Lee-lee-la-lo, or somthing like that (spelling may vary in some states).     It's always been one of my favorites, though I haven't sung it for awhile.  I love the intro to it and how the voice breaks into the instrumental.  I also like the outro--sing sing a song sing a song...sinnnng!

Freaks people out when you do a Godsmack or Tool song then pull out one of these golden oldie classics out. Rudy

Thursday night I sang....

Taking Care of Business, Bachman Turner Overdrive
Miss You, Rolling Stones
Old Days, Chicago
Why Can't We Be Friends, War

I heard three rare karaoke songs (at least for me to hear), Right Time of the Night by Jennifer Warnes (which I've always liked), Love Hurts by Nazareth, and one of my favorites,  You Got It All by The Jets.

Drama: One broken bar chair (by accident), and one potential fight.

Last night's song list.

Celluloid Heroes- The Kinks (First time ever singing it)
Little Sister- Elvis
The Mob Rules- Black Sabbath
Manic Depression- Jimi Hendrix
Forever Young- Bob Dylan

The Mob Rules got a huge crowd reaction.  Even bigger than last week.  It's going into heavy rotation.  I loved Celluloid Heroes, but it's a VERY long song.  Out of courtesy, I think I'll save it for slower nights in the future.  Little Sister was another crowd fave.  By the time I got to Manic Depression and Forever Young, the bar was starting to empty out.  But I think people liked it.

Very quiet night last night for us (in fact, suggested we pack up early, which we did, to save the bar some $$$$).

Never Tear Us Apart - INXS (heard this on the radio the other day and I love the instrumentation - first time singing it)
Help Me - Joni Mitchell (request by a singer/songwriter at the bar)
Guilty - Bonnie Raitt (would upload to SS but for some reason my DVD drive quit on me this morning .. argg)
Son of a Preacherman - Dusty Springfield
Black Dog - LZ

I've sung both of those before.  "Help Me" is a hard song to sing!

BTW, I haven't been singing this week.  A bit under the weather.  Feeling better now.

re: Help Me - I had to admit to the person requesting it that I had NEVER sung it before, and probably hadn't heard it for 20 years or more..> Shame on me, when she's such a great Canadian singer/songwriter. Anyway, I did a half decent job and will listen to it before next time in case she wants to hear it done RIGHT!  (Sadly, Help Me was the only J. Mitchell song I had - not a very popular artist, and having sung that song, it's obvious - not easy to sing!)

Ok...at my gig last night...

Opened with   "Club at the end of the street"....Elton John

About 10:15pm "Who's your daddy" ....Toby Keith....by request

About 11:48pm "Riders on the storm"....Doors..........by request

"Pub Crawlers" request..."I love this bar"...Toby Keith.

Last song at 12:55am (always a slow one) By request  "It's only make believe" C.T.

It was a fun night.....a lot of requests by the "pub crawlers". Usually, I let the regs sing until the end, usually don't sing that much at my own show, Just the first and last....but....it's nice to know they like the noise that comes out of me :O   !!

                                   Donny "B"   8)
