I've sung "Riders on the Storm" and I've heard a few other Doors songs for karaoke.  The version of "Riders on the Storm" that I sang (I've only done it once so far) didn't have the last part where the title is sung 4 times--I don't know why they left that out!  I sang it in the usual key an octave higher, BTW!

I have it on Standing Ovation disc (now Backstage) and has those last 4 lines.  Not too bad of a version either.

Any interest in their music?

I haven't heard anyone other than myself ever sing any doors songs.

Personally I'm a big fan.

I'm 55, and the Doors have been one of my favorite groups of all time. I grew up with their music.

I sing all of their songs, but it's hard to find good versions. There are a couple on DK, and back when I started I got the Doors Backstage CDG, but the songs are not done very well on it.

I also have some original videos of them performing that I use when I Video DJ.

Hey Lonnie,

I went and looked and that is a Standing Ovation disk. I just assumed it was Backstage...weird.

That's a really cool idea!

Have a Doors video playing while the person is singing that song, it's brilliant!

I'm sure some of you have been doing this for a while, it's not a new concept, but the light just went off in my head on this, but admittedly I can sometimes be a little slow. B
I've been reading about VJs and people mentioning having video with music. I've seen it from time to time in bars, but something about the mental image I just got just hit me.

Backstage either was or bought out Standing Ovation library since SO is no longer.  The Backstage Doors disc I bought a couple years ago is identical.  True alot of the songs are kind of iffy, and 1 down right unuseable if I recall the swipes are so far off, but overall that is probably one of the few discs from them i'd say is worth picking up for a couple of decent versions - provided they can get it for $5 or less.  Love Me Two Times, Riders On The Storm, LA Woman, People Are Strange - not the greatest but were ok versions.  Not the typical midi sounding, no oomph Backstage reputation.

I saw something very cool, too - in my search for Nightwish (Finnish metal band), on YouTube I found someone singing their stuff and the band is actually playing and singing the video, but the singer's voice looks like it is coming out of the lead singer's mouth.  I guess that's why I can only get their songs on DVD - full video. BTW, Lonman, ordered the switch box so I'll be able to do their stuff off DVD...and can now order other music on DVD, too, for singers. Thanks for the info.

Which reminds me, one guy keeps asking for a Doors song called 5 to 1. I never heard of it let alone see it on karaoke. Any ideas?

Monster Hits has a karaoke version of Five To One.

http://www.usa-karaoke.com/display_songs.asp?title=Five%20To%20One

It's the only one I've seen so far.

I don't sing too many Doors songs.  I'm more of a Zeppelin, Cream, Who, Sabbath and Bowie kind of guy.  But Roadhouse, LA Woman and Riders On The Storm get a lot of love where I sing.
