Is there a Karaoke version of Somewhere Over The rainbow that is like the Israel Kamakawiwo 'ole or Cliff Richard versions?
Second question, looking for recommendations of songs that are of this type of sound.
Thanks

Are you looking for yourself or girl patron?
I have a girl that sings those types of songs at karaoke. These are some of the songs she sings:
Saved the Best for last - Venesa Williams
I have nothing - Whitney Houston
Don't Let the Sun Go Down - Elton John
Cool Change - Little River Band
Bridge over troubled Waters - Simon and Garfunkel
Soundchoice has Israel Kamakawiwo.

Oh yeah the Hawian dude. I never knew who he was until American Idol. Jason from AI sang another song similar to this one. I can't remember the name of it, but it was in the Shrek movie. Oh Yeah it was "Hallelujah" written by Leonard Cohen. That would be similar.

This is such a beautiful song and beautiful video - before it got to the end, I was thinking he had died...I did a wedding a couple of weeks ago and they used this version for the processional. It was just beautiful. Going to go online and order this right now. Thanks for posting the YouTube link.

This is for me to sing when I do my one man singing show and possibly for me to sing at weddings too. I have a pretty high range, but if it's too high I'll just lower the key.

I just checked wikipedia, he died in 1997, wow, I didn't know that. I love the song. I had no idea he was Hawaiian. I also just checked Tricerasoft and they don't have that version as far as I could see. I'd rather not have to buy a whole disc to get just one great song...

Sound Choice is the only manu with it that I know of. You can get it through their custom site.

5 song minimum order, but sure there are other songs you could get as well.

Although I grew up with country and old rock, calypso and the music of the islands is my first love. It comes from the heart and every inspirational song as this conveys thoughts of the source (sea), the reason for existence, and the connection between earth and ones god.
I never have seen or heard this version but it was very inspirational to me. The video was produced by someone who understood his version and emotions. The tide washing away the tracks represents eternity. The lava and fire represents the challenges and dangers one must face. Him laying in the water represents the cleansing of the soul. The uke in the wild flowers represents his life accomplishments. The ceremony at the end with the pouring of the ashes into the sea is saying what comes from the sea returns to the sea Now watch the video again..

The first time I remember hearing the song was in an episode of ER (I think it was ER). One of the doctors died after a long illness and this song played during a montage. It was very moving and has really stuck with me and my wife to this day. I don't know how many years ago it was but I would imagine around 8 years ago, maybe more.

Me too. Beautiful song/singer.
Hey, I'm supposed to be working here instead of sitting in front of my monitor weeping like a willow.

I just found out that Songbird was written and first performed by Fleetwood Mack on the Rumors album in 1977. Eva Cassidy later performed it and I think she did a great job. I could see this song making people weep uncontrollably at a funeral. wow, I can't believe I am getting so emotional about this...
