Okay, so I've taken advice here and bought my laptop and went with the Compuhost software...really cool. Thanks for the advice. I'm inthe process of ripping my discs now. I only do things at home, nothing big so I'm not looking to pay big bucks for music, so I lurk on e-bay. I just found the Charbuster Essentials on e-bay pretty damn cheap. It tells me that they are on Super CD+G and only play on Cavs machines or DVD players on computers. Well, my computer has a DVD drive. Are these just DVD format with regular CD-G tracks? Can they be ripped to my computer from these DVD's? While I'm here, I also have some other DVD karaoke.....can their music be ripped too?
You guys are the best and thanks for the help so far.

There are two different converters for supercdg but I am a big fan of frank's converter program that will do SuperCDG, Neo+G as well as cavs files.
The website is www.kjamp.com and they also have their own player but as you have CompuHost you don't need that.

Thanks Danny G. Since you have used the software, and seem to know who Frank is, I'd like to support their product. So my next question is whether I should bother buying the SCDG discs. I am not a pro, but I like most of the Chartbuster tracks I have heard. They seem to be good quality, much like Sound Choice is (maybe not quite as good but good enough for me). For the price, I could get the Chartbuster Essential packs on these SCDG disks pretty cheap, build a huge selection quickly, and have some quality. What do you think? I would assume the ripped quality would be the same as a CDG would be as they are supposedly the same tracks, just in a different format. So, in a nutshell, is it worthwhile to buy the cheaper SCDG and the KJamp software which is only about $40 and run with it?

I just wonder about naming -- do the conversion software programs handle naming the resulting files according to artist-title? If they don't, it would be very laborious to type in hundreds of titles and artists.

Good point. I never even thought about that. I am on e-bay checking it now. All six Super CDGs have 2700 songs total...but the current bid price is $105 with $10 shipping and only 15 hours to go. This sounds like a sweet deal if the software can Ripp it to MP3-G...maybe even if I do have to manually type the names in....it can be a pet project for me (or my secretary LOL )

I believe that frank's converter has a method of reading an extra file on the disc that names the songs for you.

Hi,
Unlike CDG, a SCDG disc contains the Artist and Title in the header!
TIP: Save everything to your HD. ID3 Tag the Audio.
If your worried about Frank Crowder's KJ Amp abilities, or lack of...
Check out CDGFix. It blows KJ Amp AWAY.
Kind Regards,

Hi,
CDGFix will rename them and ID3 Tag them upon Any conversion.
So the tracks display the info Perfectly.
Kind Regards,
