Looks like Karaoke Scene is going to be one of the last decent forums around.  Looks like karaoke.com JOLT Forum is gone & Sound Choice has a message on theirs that they are closing that one down.

That's cause we're the bestest place in netland:)

Hopefully, that doesn't mean we have to scoot over and accomodate 2,000 more members who start looking for "a new hangout". Maybe that sounds rude, but I'm a small town type person, I don't want our site to get TOO big. I like when new members drift in, but, s-l-o-w-l-y, not all at once.

(i can see it now, Kappy giving up his basement den for a skyrise apartment on the 23rd floor, due to expansion)

No really, more people usually drag in more spammers.... don't want to see this place be over-run with nonsense.

[font=verdana] Does that mean that all the people on the other forums that weren’t as good as this one, will be coming here??   OH NO!!  I hope that there are at least a few good eggs among them.

I always thought this was the best forum anyway.

Yeah, that makes me mad about the Sound Choice forum.  The message on screen said that it was closing due to lack of interest, or something like that.  Hey, I had been posting my butt off there, and so had quite a few others!

Where are we going to go now to request songs we want for karaoke?  (*grin*  If I listed every song I want for karaoke, the list would probably be as big as a lot of kjs' songbooks!)

That is too bad.  People had interesting input as to what new songs they wanted done.  Of course Sound Choice's competition was able to read all that input as well!  Looks like the shutdown was pretty sudden.  No one got a chance to say goodbye.

It seemed to me that there was still considerable interest in the Sound Choice Soundboard.  Oh sure, it may not be what it used to be, but then the interest in karaoke isn't quite what used to be either.

The song request feature of SC's Soundboard gave them NUMEROUS ideas for new songs.  MANY of the songs that came out on later discs were OBVIOUSLY the result of being requested over and over and over.  "Burnin' Sky", "Voices", "I Will Survive" - Cake, "Badfish", and "Anything, Anything" - Dramarama are just a few of the instances that SC listened to those who posted.  Of course, SC doesn't really need that much input anymore, as discs featuring new material are far and few between.

I don't anticipate this board being flooded with lots of "displaced" SC Soundboard posters as many of us post on both forums.

What's so strange is that the Jolt Forum also was recently closed.  The Karaoke Scene Karaoke Forum remains the best karaoke forum.

This is true but when I posted on the requests all of these songs that I'm already singing but would prefer a SC version.   And then someone posts once for a Nickelback Star Series a year ago, and that Disc gets made.  :thinkin:  Eff SC and its business.

SBI and Sunfly all the way for me, I'll spend the extra scratch for the songs I want.

The way karaoke is going now you are lucky to even HAVE a version available in many instances.  Of course I would prefer a SC version over one on Sunfly.  But try getting "The Battle Of Who Could Care Less" - Ben Folds Five, "Trouble" - Lindsey Buckingham or "The Sun Always Shines On TV" - A-Ha on SC.

SBI is probably the best source for hard-to-find karaoke at present.  Oh sure, they are pricey but they are the main manu releasing LOTS of songs and many that were never produced for karaoke.  And overall, SBI quality is pretty good.

A Nickelback disc actually makes a great deal of sense for a karaoke manu as it is one of the newer groups that is VERY popular on karaoke.

man, I didn't know "Trouble" was out!!! I see it's on a Sunfly Most wanted disc. That's sweet. I just saw it on proburn!

Guess it's time to make a disc again!

I'm sorry SC closed it's forum. That's crap as far as I'm concerned. Personally speaking, if you have ONE customer that uses it daily, it's a good feature to have. I can guarantee that there will be a lot less interest in their product since it's harder to request songs.

Yeah, I think Sunfly, SBI, STTW, Zoom, EK are ALL going to see a LOT more business.

Tell me about it--I posted something THAT VERY MORNING and then came back later in the afternoon, and found there was no more SC board.    AAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!

As I said on another thread, I was going to request "Tore Down a la Rimbaud" by Van Morrison on the SC board.  Well, it looks like the SC board is "tore down".

One nice thing about SC's board is you could post a list of request and then gauge everyone else's reaction by the responses.  You could see if people agreed, or if you were just a loose karaoke cannon.   Putting a song and artist into a web pages request form is just not the same.  You wonder who, if anyone, looks at your request.  LOL

I've sung the Sunfly version of "Trouble" and it is actually pretty good.  Now if someone would just release "Go Insane" I'd REALLY be happy.

DJChat.com is pretty good.  They have various classifications/forums for dj's and have a separate karaoke forum.  Very nice and knowlegeable people there and I've seen some others of us there when I've checked in

Would it also be a good place for people like me, who aren't dj's or kj's but who just like to sing?

Laura

Generally speaking, the subjects are more directed towards the professional.  However, i've encountered non-pro's discussing such matters, for example,  as "censorship"

So the answer is probably not for the majority of non-pros.
