A fellow comes in to our Monday night show every week. He isn't a singer, just loves music. He asked me if I had heard of the band "Nightwish." I had to admit that since I am not a fan of metal, that I had not. He proceeded to bring me copies of all their albums and I immediately fell in love with their sound. It is symphonic heavy metal, very, very popular in Europe.  They are very famous throughout Europe and have US tours planned (they'll be in Seattle in September of this year - woohoo). They are a 4-piece with a female front who sings almost an operatic style.

So I got on line and found a company in Finland that does a whole collection of karaoke DVDs of  the metal bands from Finland, including Nightwish, Stratavarius, Sonata Arctica, HIM, etc.  I ordered 4 DVDs and received them last week. They are incredibly good.

From the same company I ordered Pantera and Iron Maiden karaoke DVDs - quality is amazing. I will send links to anyone who is interested in procuring these. The Iron Maiden is done by a pretty famous Finnish I/M tribute band. I have to be honest, I haven't listened to the Pantera yet as I've been working on learning the Nightwish stuff. If you think you don't like metal, google "Nightwish" or go to Napster and listen to them. You might be as surprised as I was!

Me too. PM me girl please or put it in the thread.

I need "Fear Of The Dark" bad. Any Iron Maiden really. A large part of my regular guys are metalheads.

Here is the list of I/M songs: Run to the Hills, Aces High, Number of the Beast, 2 Minutes to Midnight, The Trooper, Can I Play with Madness, The Evil that Men Do, Fear of the Dark, Iron Maiden, Hallowed be Thy Name, Phantom of the Opera, Wrathchild, Wildest Dreams, Holy Smoke, and Wasted Years.

The Iron Maiden and Pantera are 'Bandoke' style so you can use them for karaoke but you can also take out lead guitar, take out bass, take out drums, etc., and play along.

These are DVDs and I'm not sure how to convert other than to use a switching box and a DVD player which is what I will do.  But totally worth it for the quality and selection of metal...

Hey, thanks for the heads up on Firewind. Will have a listen... Unfortunately, after perusing the DVDs, I don't see any of their stuff on any of the four DVDs.

I have not been disappointed at all with these. I spent a small fortune to get the four-DVD set of heavikaraoke, and the Pantera and Iron Maiden (no call for Kiss but may end up getting it yet)....If I could find this stuff here, I'd definitely like to pay less. But like I said, no disappointment yet. Hope you enjoy yours just as much. PS: Doesn't take them long to ship and arrive. I was amazed - a week maybe?

See addy below. I got the 4-DVD set (you have to have a pretty new DVD player to play their format) but it works as quickly as a CDG. I have a switch setup now where I can switch between computer (I use MT Hoster) and the DVD player - it's fast.

I've already had singers sing off the Pantera and Iron Maiden both - singers went crazy when they realized I had this stuff. This is GOOD quality music, too ..but with the euro being 1.5 x the dollar, it is a bit spendy. I just wanted something DIFFERENT...never hurts to separate yourself from the rest. I have sung Nemo and Sleeping Sun and it is interesting to see people's reaction to such an "operatic metal" sound. Now that I've fixed my sound issue, I'll sub one or both.

The two Iron Maiden nuts that frequent our show are fighting over the songs. I've never been a big fan of IM but this sounds great. I'm enjoying it a lot and glad I spent the money. Going on a search for Lacuna Coil next...and I may actually get the Kiss H/K one just to have it in case there are some Kiss fans out there.
