With gas at $4.00+ do u find it curtailing your going out to karaoke bars?? IE--are you staying home more than you might have been in the past? It certainly has me. Up until recently I'd think nothing of driving a 1/2 hour or so. Not so now. I stay home instead of going to places(shows) that require a drive to get to. In fact I've dropped my karaoke magazine delivery route(after 5 years of doing it to the tune of a 1/2 a tank).

How bout everyone else?? Is this putting a crimp in your karaoking? And conversely are the KJ's seeing any effect because of it??

I would agree when the everything is in a pretty short range area.

Yeah we have some that have toned down & only come out once MAYBE twice a week as before it would be 4-5 nights.  I know personally it has cut into my entertainment funds.

It's cut into our budget, too - one of the reasons I haven't made it to your show, Lonman. If you drive a diesel in our area, you're paying almost $5/gal now. Premium is now up over $4. If it's food, gas, or karaoke, the first two win every time. Thankfully our gigs are in areas where a lot of the regulars live almost within walking distance. Helps a lot. It was common for us to have visitors from up to 30-40 miles away in the past, on a pretty regular basis. Isn't that way anymore.

[glow=blue]Luckily i live in a small town...the bar we work in is the only place we do and that does karaoke. Everyone lives no more than 15 min from there...so we've actually had more business...[/glow] :hi5:

Luckily in Portland we must have the highest per capita concentration of karaoke bars so I dont have to drive over 10 mins to find plenty. Most of them are not places I frequent regulalry but there are a couple I still check in and out of.

We have a lot of karaoke around. My favorite place to go (as many know) is Mary's however it is 25 miles away. I have not been going in much due to the gas situation. I have been going to a place that is just down the road from me( about 1.5 miles) I don't like it though. The crowd is very different and not very friendly. But alas, if I want to sing in public that is where I am going for now.

Then, when you're finished in Portland, I'll drive down in my F250 Powerstroke V8 Diesel with Banks Chip - at $5/gal, it'll only cost me $100 to drive there and back - a deal at half the price!

Heck, Swingcat, maybe we can meet halfway...or at Lonnie's show... Sad situation with fuel prices here. Don't see 'em droppin' either.

The gas station I use just hit $4.13 today. Getting very rediculous to the point no one is going to come out to support shows & almost to the point where we can't afford to GO out to do shows. Can't ask for a raise to compensate if no one is coming out.

My home room is pretty much the definition of a local hangout. Most people live just a few minutes away. There are apartment complexes nearby, and for a reason unrelated to gas prices (you know... ;) ) quite a few of them have been walking in all along.

These guys have been showing up like clockwork. But there are a few tables from a town 20 miles away that I haven't seen in awhile. Good singers too. I miss them.

I'm 32 miles from work and asked for a $25 a week raise recently to help pay for gas. I wasn't sure I was going to get it, but I did.

It never hurts to ask.

Lonman, try $5.07 gas, which is what we pay in NS in US dollars in US gallons. In Europe around $8.00.

The price of everything is going up, ( except for my salary) lol

considering looking for another gig as $125 fo 4 hours isn't cutting it -
It COSTING me about $6.95 just in gas to go to my Saturday gig. That's about 5-1/2% / I want to ask for at LEAST $10 more a week but probaly won't get it

Gee! And I have been complaining about gas going to 3.88 a gal. Fortunately, for people in our area, the station I use has gone back down to 3.86 a gal. It is getting to the point that 2 cents a gal. make a lot of difference. My pickup takes a lot of gas! I have not yet seen 4.00 gas and I hope I dont. If trends stay the same, prices may fall a little more since we have made it through Memorial Day weekend. At least that is the way it tends to work where I live. We usually get a little break for the summer.--Mike

Oh man, almost enough to get me to move to Texas. And those of you close enough to the MExican border, with the Mex. gov't controlling the price of fuel, theirs is half the price of ours - almost worth the hassle at the border to go down and fuel up. Seattle area: Diesel: $5/gal. Premium: $4.10.

As a commuter ,I have been driving the VW diesel cars for years ,and laughing all the way to the bank (49mpg). Now at 4.99 a gallon ,its time to go electric or something. Worse than that even ,might have to get a blowbote to go fishing!
