Hey Ice,
I'm not quite where you are yet, but working on it.
Peavey XR696F powered mixer (I play outside sometimes)
JVC Triple Tray
Vocopro 4 channel wireless mic set-up
5,000 songs (7,000 with dupes)
House speakers (Community 15" 3-Ways)
Still deciding on my own speakers. I'm waiting to see how the new Cerwin Vega Vision Series turn out. I really like the VIS-253's.
Thanks BTW for the good post you start. I've been learning a lot from all the responses, including Brian and lonman.

this isn't about ego, but rather, what components make up good installs for permament rigs, for mobiles, home setups, etc.
I use:
* RSQ505 DVD/CDG/VCD/CD player
* JVC303 (or is it the 505 ?? it's the gold player)
* basic cd player
* Mackie DFX12 mixer
* AKJ7000 amp/mixer 250 watt
* 2 locallly built 200 watt Subzero speakers (Pioneer horn and Woofer), woofers made up of flexible material specifically for "live mic"
* Audio-Technica (ATW-202) 200 Series Freeway Handheld Wireless Microphone
* RS230 Shure Premium Vocal Microphone
* Radio Shack's Pro-Unidirectional Dynamic Mic Catalog #: 33-3001
and just got Boss 1180 10 track digital workstation w/ cd burner (20 GB hdd)
I don't have my laser disc collection as my "primary" mobile setup, so it's not listed. Nor the two laser players.
Initially, when I first started out, I only had a four channel mixer that I would hook up the various cdg and laser players thru, with a 4-way switch! I had the karaoke units on the switch, and audio coming in thru channel 1. Channel two had the cd player. Channels 3 and 4 were configured for tape or phono, and wouldn't work... so I didn't use 'em! !
After my membership of the bboards, I learned from people like Lonman, and others. I asked questions, I buried my ego, and you know, even after following their advice, I thought I would cut a corner here and there.
You can't do that. I had bought the Mackie DFX12 mixer, opting out on the mid-range eq settings for the various channels. Turns out I really should have spent the other $$ to go up to the CFX12!!

Folks...
I can accept Matt's explaination .. but the way it was presented earlier it looked too much like a competition.. which I'm not going to be a part of..
But I'm still not going to list my systems here because It looks like I would be bragging Because it really is High Dollar. which many have told me it "This system Doesn't belong in Karaoke."
That is my perogative.
If I have the skills and the wherewithall to run it.. then then so be it.. it is not for you folks to criticise.
It may be time for me to leave this board. I don't know it all and I actually respect alot of people here and really could care less if this is my last post.. but I respect alot here but this BS has gotta end.
GOOD NIGHT IRENE!

I didn't want this to turn into a pissing match. I am from West Michigan and I used to do alot of work for bands etc before I decided to get into Karaoke/DJ'ing. Hell, you could walk into a club w/a 48 channel board and 10 crown CE 2000 amps with 100,000 karaoke songs, but if you can't run what you have to make a decent to near perfect sound mix between the music and singer, then all that gear is useless. The reason I posted this question is that I am curious as to what other people run in their systems and to also see (by what they are running) if people prefer analog over digital. I didn't meant to upset ne1.
For future reference the DJ system I am in the process of putting together, (should be done by the end of Feb) is this:
1 - Gemini Gemini MP 3000X dual deck CD DJ player
1 - Behringer DX 626 Mixer (crossfader)
2 - B-52 SR-15 Speakers
2 - B-52 BP-18 18" Band-Pass Sub's
1 - Crown CE 1000 (for highs)
1 - Crown CE 2000 (for 2 subs)
1 - Gemini UX 1610 Cordless Mic
1 - rack mic

Outlaw,
I like the B-52 speakers.. you have my respect with those.. also you are right you Don't need a 48 channel desk to do a karaoke show.. most of the time I use a 12 or 16 channel rack desk.
crown CE series also a reliable amp too...
Not a bad choice!
I still may change my mind and post .. MAYBE..

There is another person on this site who DOES NOT work for me that has seen some of my toys and parts of my systems in person. so why post a pic. "I have a witness."
You carry the same type of credibility with me as "Shotgun" does. NONE!!!!
BTW - where is your Pic?

So 1 person actually seen your stuff - OK, what are you so afraid of in showing us HOW karaoke should be run. Just like you, I am not inclined to "show" what I have. I'll show when you do big guy.

My hardware consists of 2 JBL EON 15s and EON G2 sub (all powered), Behringer DX-1000 mixer, RSQ triple tray player, American DJ DCD-250 dual CD player, Behringer Virtualizer Pro 2024 effects processor, DOD dual EQ, and Fender 1270P powered monitor. 2 Shure PG-58 corded mics, 1 SM-58 wireless. Have a small Behringer mixer and RSQ-505 DVD/CDG player for backup.
I run it in stereo and it sounds decent to me. My two steady gigs are now with house systems, one of them is absolutely fantastic (live music venue) while the other is pretty inferior. Like not having to haul gear and the quick set-ups though.

He's not just blowing smoke. You're not making this easy.

My goodness! Someone else that will admit to running a CAVS 99!!!!
Now I can Post my crappy system:
CAVS 99 Jukebox w/10,279 songs
Gemini 15" 3(or 5) Way Speakers
Audio2000s AKJ7075 digital mixing amp
Yorkville 12" passive speaker as a feedback monitor
Mackie DFX12 mixer
API dual wireless mics
Samson backup mics for drunks
Samson wireless headset for the host
Audio2000s TV stand w/ cheap Walmart 13" TV
And the scary part is that all this junk still sounds better then most of the local competition, as far as I've been told at least.
Let the ripping apart begin.

I know what you mean dbk. One of the local establishments asked me to KJ for them, but then changed their mind when I told them 150.00 for 4 hours. The funny thing is that there's already a guy there doing it, so I didn't want to "undercut" him. Then later I saw why they called me, the guy didn't really know what he was doing. Now they're calling again. We'll see what happens this time.
