I would be curious how many songs there are that are over the 6 or 7 minute range. Anyone want to start a list?

Full version of 'Magic Carpet Ride'...it has a music break in it long enough to drink a beer and ENJOY smoking a cigarette!

A 6min song are common here. It seems that most of the popular karaoke songs are also dance numbers and a dangdut songs are well over 6 min. The good thing is that people jump to the floor to dance to those songs. I hate them.

Kind of funny how good songs that aren't over played that much on the radio don't seem that long. I love both those Styx songs and I would have never guessed they were that long.
I have worked on Suite Madam Blue, but I don't think I have ever done it in public. Even November Rain which I think clocks in at over 9 minutes ( SC version ) doesn't seem that long, of course it has 2 guitar leads and an ending that is pretty much a different song altogether. Rudy.

I will have to try that one.. Ive done a shorter vershon in the past, not in a couple years now.
the worst one ive done(I used to do it at a buddys show to pee him off) is war pigs by black sabbath .just a tad under 10 min. Dangerous did a good version at just under 5 min. I have that disk , but he doesn't .

The "War Pigs" version I've been using for the singers lately has been on Legends. LEG239. It's under 5 minutes.
Legends renditions can be spotty but this one sounds pretty good I think. No complaints from the singers. I'm not a "War Pigs" expert or even a fan so I don't know how accurate the lead work is, but the kick and bass is strong and clean so it's easy to get it slammin' out of the subs.
Longest song (I think) in my book is "Master Of Puppets" - Metallica, at close to 10 minutes. The guys know that it's usually allowed only after 1:00 but I did let it be placed in rotation earlier on Memorial Saturday because it was slow.
There's a long instrumental section in the middle and whoever's singing usually leaves the stage, returning for the final part. I leave during the whole thing. By that time of the night I could use a break.

I was thinking about this topic the other night at karaoke. There are hundreds of songs longer than 6 min. The only ones I can remember are the ones that get sung all the time. There really are quite a few over the mark. I could make a large list but won't.
