I LOVE 80's music and I sing several songs at karaoke.

I play quite a bit of it for filler music when I DJ.

Ive posted a number of 80's songs on SS. I carry several 80's cd's to listen to in my car.

B-52's, Talking Heads, Joe Jackson, ABC, Motels, English Beat, Haircut One Hundred,
XTC, Oingo Boingo, Stray Cats, Busboys-just some AMAZING bands.

The 80's produced some of the MOST creative and edgy, fun dance and party music thier was and STILL is.

I just think maybe SALINA hasnt caught up yet!! :) :) :)

My point is - 80's retro stuff became popular in about 97 over here. By about 2004 it had been milked to death so much it was dead. Now we've moved on to 90's nostalgia.

And your point that a lot of places play it - negates your point that it's going to be a big deal soon!?

Not dead here…

Maybe too many baby boomers.

Then it’ll be like oldies for the kids coming up.

Lots of good rock and funk in the 80s, good energy and danceable.

The eighties craze hit us a while ago. It has pretty much faded out now. I was just glad the "Big Hair" didn't come back with it !

I sorta think CRAP is not really an ACCURATE term.

Now Morgan if your still in the 70's softrock ultra-blah ballad days or todays unlistenable Gangsta-Rap format then I would agree those were or are CRAP.

But 80's UH-UH.

Oldies now. But then was CUTTING EDGE.

And there was an 80's revival for a couple years, but that has passed.

But sorry Morgan--Im NOT buying the "80's is CRAP" routine.

80's actually had a ton of really good musicians, especially gutarists & alot of good rock - fun party rock, not like this death oriented, depressing, screaming rock of today. It was also a time of major experimentation with the synth & sequenced sounds that were becoming more readily available. I didn't really appreciate it then but do now. However our 80's rebirth around here has come & gone, like said we are back into the 90's again.

Myself I was into the "New Wave" thing. Not so much the hairbands or Punk.

Ah, Witchy-poo. Sometimes I could just kiss you if you weren't 8,000 miles away and.... Ah, what the heck SNOG! You're right, with the possible exception of ABBA and some advances in Country music, it was crap.

Now Morgan I need some CLARIFICATION.

Are you saying that ALL 80's music was CRAP?? Or just some specific style or band of 80's music was crap.

Cause if its ALL CRAP thats a PRETTY BROAD AND ALL-ENCOMPASSING statement.

So please clarify.
