kurt why would you bother addressing me now? short of pm'ing me when you were initially subbing songs to let me know you were doing so (what was I your groupie?)...when have you ever given me the time of day? I hybernated musically throughout the 80s THE ENTIRE 80S partly because the music was crap and partly because I was running a business that took all my time and energy and it had nothing to do with music

Well as to the Pm's I have no idea what the groupie remark is about or where youre going with THAT----but if i remember correctly you had taken an interest in my subs as they were primarily blues and swing songs at that time. The only thing I can really remember about the PM's is you kept wanting me to learn JOHN THE REVELATOR and post it up. But i didnt want to go out and buy the disc just for that song and never sing it again--so I never bought it, recorded it, or posted it up.
But lets get back to and stay focused on topic. Youve caught my attention with the 80's is Crap topic. Its a music period that really caught on to ME and I love DEARLY to this day.
But lets get this straight............according to you with the blanket statement that all 80's music is CRAP you would then go on to say that everything produced by these artists listed here is all crap and all thier 80's works are crap along with all the many classic, legendary artists of the 60's and 70's that had successful relases and career periods through the 80's.
Do I understand your statement correctly??
80's Acts:
http://www.1980sflashback.com/1984/Music.asp
Some of the other 60's and 70's acts with successful 80's periods: Bowie, Fleetwood Mac, Stones, Elton John, Pink Floyd, Billy Joel.
All these crap huh??
Ok if you say so.
And as to being out of touch---you COULDNT have been THAT out of touch----Didnt you listen to the local radio stations??
Hey I was in New Zealand in 1982 and 80's music was all over the local radio stations--Auckland, Timaru, Tauranga.

I stand by what I say kurt
the bands that were so hot in the 70s did not sound as good in the 80s now whether that is becos they were trying to conform I have no idea but Pink Floyd and Fleetwood Mac certainly didnt make the transition well and as to the rest I have never really enjoyed their music so they dont matter

as to showing an interest in your music, yes blues is my genre of choice and I would have continued to support except for one thing...I enjoy subbing and commenting on SS because of the social aspect...I have become close enough to many that a trip to the states was planned this year...that had to be postponed because of the tree diving incident. As soon as I saw that all you wanted was your ego stroked I stopped commenting. Sorry babe you may have been the best singer on the planet but if I wanted to hear great I would go buy an album. Like I said its social interaction for me

Going into needing ego-stroking and non-sense like that. THAT IS SILLY.
A discussion of prefernce of one type of music or the other and vehemently defending your like or dislike is one thing---thats simply a debate of diffrerent viewpoints.
Did I once say your position sucked or was stupid or this or that.?? NO. I simply put my position outthere and vehemently disagreed with your position on it.
Now attempting to slam or embarras or with personal comments now that is someting ENTIRLEY DIFFERENT---and kinda out of line and out of character of you.
I would have expected something a bit better and more on topic.

Kurt I have not attempted to slam you. But I have watched you corner folks before and attempt to goad or trick them into saying something they wished they hadnt. Hence my question as to why you would publicly address me when I have been a member here for nearly 2 years and this is the first time you have acknowledged my presence.
You were not defending vehemently, you were on the attack. I simply have stood my ground as well. Asking you to clarify why you would suddenly taken such an interest in what I had to say. As to being out of character, that statement sort of proves my point about you attempting to shove someone in a corner and goad them.
Blessed Be

Well yes I will push back and do that when someone hammers on a subject that I find important to me.
Particularly when you make such a BLANKET statement dumping on the entire era of music. And by extension saying that it implys anyone that does love and enjoy that music is some kind of an idiot for doing so. That's what I get out of that statment.
I will push back and corner someone when I pick up on something like that.
I dont do it very often but on the fews subjects I find near and dear I will:
e.g. The business about bringing discs to shows, the BD non-sense, etc.
You've seen them.
If I seemed heavy handed in my replys---well I took the subject topic statement for you to mean it literally--and clearly you do. I take that to task. I Disagree.
If I seemed like a TON OF BRICKS...........well I apologize to you for that.
But by the same token I DONT EXPECT to start getting personal slams about ego or any other potential insulting things and I dont expect to be discussing PM's in one of the public threads.
You should apologize to me for that!

The emoticon says it all Morgan----
Flip the bird at someone who has tried to meet you half-way on this subject.
I went after your POINT OF VIEW. You went after me PERSONALLY.
Its clear there can be no meeting you half-way or even making an apology.
It wont be enough.
I wonder if this how you treat eveyone you disagree with on something that you cant convice to see your point of veiw----flip em off--make a vulgar gesture at them?
Oh well I guess that is YOUR way.
I certainly didnt FLIP YOU OFF---make an obscene, vulgar gesture at you.
And again I made my apology and you wont accept that.
And thats ok if thats how you have to be.

sweetheart you were female in a previous existence...you are a master of emotional blackmail. If you go back and take a look at my last response I was poised to apologise until you INSISTED. Kurt you can prevaricate all you like, you can pout and you can ponce about but I dont give in to emotional blackmail. Now be a good boy an put your toys back in your cot

You know its really unfortunate.
In the 5 years that Ive been here on KS this is the FIRST TIME Ive been involved in a debate/argument/dicusssion that degenerated into a personal beef with someone here.
I have not once been cussed at, called a foul name, personally dissed or belittled publically on the forums until tonight.
This is the very first instance.
Most here has been polite, civil, respectful, helpful and sociable.
As I have tried to be with MOST people here.
Will I debate strongly and hammer at someone that has an attitude or attacks something I hold dear. Absolutely. I REFUSE to apologize for that. I WILL hit them as hard as I can. And I expect the same in return if someone doenst like a postion I take or I come on with a attitude or I say something that really rubs someone wrong. And there are others here who are far more BRUTAL than I am.
But tonight I was personally attacked and attempted to be dissed and belittled and given a foul gesture on a public forum.
Its particularly distressing that it came from someone who's highly respected here and someone whom Ive very much enjoyed reading their posts.
I find it to be saddening and disapointing.
Oh well I guess thats going to happen sometime or other.

is that not what I have opted to do? Sorry dude but what is the difference between what you claim to be your right and what I claim as mine? You say above that you expect the same in return, well you got it. I have not lowered myself to personal insults I have simply stated my opinion.

This is accomplishing nothing constructive for either you or me. How bout we just drop the topic completely and let the topic quietly drop off the board.
Call it agreeing to disagree and move on with life.
