Hi Mandi,

As far as the "digitally challenged " thing goes, it sounds like a good enough excuse to me ,and I am sticking with it.
One more thing Mandi ,don't wait forever to do all these you want to do.Learn from my mistakes, make a plan and do it.After all we never know what tomorrow holds. :D

Maybe you could help me out with my future Vicki, like how many good years could I have left ,or better yet,how about a good number. You know ,the lottery kind!

Ah, my legs are in fine shape. They'll tide me over until I'm 90 or so;)

Truth is... I've put literally EVERYthing off 'till tomorrow. That big ol' *someday*... when it gets here... is going to be a VERY busy one. :D

Those must be some great legs you have for mountain trekin Mandi,do you have a picture by chance? Strickly bussiness of course ,just to see if you are ready when the time comes! :D

Yeah, I've been told that a time or two. Who knows, maybe I'll just get in my truck and head southeast? Leave it all behind, head to the hills, live off the land....... Probably shouldn't though. Lol

But, yeah, I know what you're saying. I'm not all that old (really, I'm not :D ) but there are still things I wish I would have done in life already that now I really can't go back and do/undo.

Okay, now this conversation is getting too serious.

You know, I've never believed such nonsense. (southerners used to burn you at the stake if you had a crystal ball or runes, haha)

But, last year at the fair- I was pretty bored because my office had a booth there and I had been there literally ALL week long. So, to kill some time I went to the palm reader booth. I was all laughing and thinking it was going to be a funny joke... until she started asking me some questions and pointing things out that freaked me out a little bit. Seriously, I don't care if the woman had followed me around all day watching my every move- she told me some things that are not common every day things to most people- there is no WAY she should have known some of the things she seemed to know about me.

Am I a believer now? No. But I left the booth nearly in tears because of the personal nature of some of the things she noted that were WAY personal to me, things that not even my family or any of my friends know about.

Gave me the shivvers, she did.

Charmin I am not that good...but I read my own cards and they are normally pretty right...that doesnt say I always follow them...when they say keep a clear head and be patient chances are they might as well spit in the wind where I am concerned.
I get feelings about things and people and I tend to act upon that

I have had several people tell me the same thing about the readers they went to. They were amazed, and rattled for a bit about the insight the readers seemed to posess.Kinda makes you wonder doesn't it?

Well, yeah, she didn't "generalize", she got very specific. And it's not things your normal person in a palm reader booth would be going through. (i'm not normal, you see) :D I wish I could elaborate, then you'd know why it freaked me out so, but I can't. :?

Ah, yes, if you're from the Appalachian Mt area, I'm sure you've had lifelong exposure to bluegrass. (the GOOD kind) I envy you, I've always wanted to go visit there- just strap my mandolin on my back (and err, my fiddle and guitar too.... guess I'd need a strong back ), and traipse through those mountains for about 6 months meeting people and playing tunes;) I've seriously read many books about the Appalachian Mountains. Maybe, someday, perhaps, when I'm older and can afford to spend time wandering mountain ranges... :D ... I'll go there.

I'm curious to know if you play/sing bluegrass yourself?

MandiLynn,

When I was growing up my grandparents on my mother’s side lived in the Appalachian Mountains. We lived in less than a 100 miles away but visiting them was like going to a different world. It was a world without indoor plumbing were water was carried from a creek in pails. It was also were my grandfather had his church and the music was so different in his church. There was no organ or piano, but there were guitars, mandolins, tambourines, and something I think was called a lap harp. The music they played was kind of an unrefined bluegrass gospel. I am mostly a country music fan but I like bluegrass especially when its performed live. When its live I can’t help but remember that church music.

Jim, I agree with you ,I love to hear a good bluegrass band live.
Talk about not having running water and so forth ,I went to Kentucky, and W.V. 2 years ago for a family funeral, and there are still plenty of familys living like that if you go to the right areas.Seen some that live in what looks like big shipping boxes covered with plastic.Maybe I am getting off topic ,but after seeing what still goes on there in some places,I realized that the real poverty is'nt in/around the big cities.

Boatman,

Your right, I live in South East TN which not a real high income area but most people here live well in comparison. Did you happen to notice how many of those shipping crates have a satellite dish on the roof. I always found it interesting that TV is something many people need even in poverty and I don't mean that in a judgemental way. TV is after all a way to escape reality for a little while just as is music.

Jim I had to laugh when I read the thing about the satellite dish on the roof.I would'nt laugh at anyone in poverty ,but it is true.I can show you houses falling down ,and trailers in southern Md. that have satellite dishes on the roof.
