and you are so good at them all Connie...fact is I am not so one tends to gravitate toward stuff that is appealing to listen to, or suits their range if they sing...there is little in the 80s decade that fit either criteria for me

Thanks, Vicki. I think one the things that makes a good singer is picking songs that are suitable for their voice. You do that very well, that's why I enjoy listening to you so much. :)

One thing about 80's music thats been missed so far is the diffrent genres that were created--most of what has been mentioned so far is pretty much top-40 pop.

But dont forget what really made the 80's was NEW WAVE, PUNK, EARLY RAP/HIP-HOP and GLAM ROCK(hair bands)
.
Those are what REALLY set the 80's apart from other musical era's.

Not to mention 80's Country and the resurgence of Rockabilly and Swing.

punk and glam rock had their beginnings in late 70s I guess that is what heralded the changes that made me hybernate all decade. I didnt discover REM till mid 90s yet love their early stuff

I most loved New Wave---yes the synthes and all that---but it was the dance grooves that they came up with that caught my ear. And loved the EARLY MTV VIDEOS...............expecially the corny ones that really had nothing to do with anything the song was about................Flock of Seagulls "You Cant Run" video comes to mine. But you had to have LOVED DEVO's WHIP IT. And AHA's TAKE ON ME was classic annimation combined with an actual video. Many other favorites too.
