Neither cost or size are obstacles. I want to have a very complete collection of songs by many different artists. I'm talking having like 50 beattles songs, 30 Eagles songs, classic stuff that everybody likes like that. I also would like some more modern things, and perhaps more obscure things. Modern things like Stone Sour, and more obscure things like Eighteen Visions.

Really, I want as much music as possible from as many different eras as possible. Not just popular songs by each artist. I want some of the album stuff that many people may not have even heard of.

Remember, neither cost or quantity is an obstacle. Give me the name of as many collections as you know of that can satisfy these criteria, preferably with minimal overlap. Giving me the names of collections devoted to specific artists would probably be the most helpful, as in the long run they would be the most complete.

Thanks a lot.

I think Sound choice does have collections like that. Just getting a library started would encompass buying SCs Foundation plus Bricks I, II, and so on and so forth. Try searching their online store and search for what you need.

OK... Let's see.....

The Beatles --- They're out on so many discs that you're really going to have to look at each disc to see where your minimal "repeat Factor" will lie. But, as a start, you can check" Zoom" Discs... I believe they have 3 or 4 full CDGs devoted to The Beatles (including some rare songs that nobody else ever released on CDG). I don't remember now, but I think "Amerising" (or is it Amerasing?) has a full Beatles CDGs. Other than that, other makers have you'll find mostly a song or 2 here and there that are mixed on other manufacturers discs. All-in-all, there's about 150 Beatles songs out there on CDG.

The Eagles - Again, "Zoom" has an Eagles disc as well as a Don Henly disc. IMO, don't waste your time looking for that ever so elusive "Sound Choice" 8125 (which was pulled from the market about 1 year after it was released, because Don Henley did not want his stuff released to the Karaoke world). There is a "BackStage Karaoke" CDG that has 15 songs... a lot of people say that the disc sucks, but I personally don't believe so.

Classic stuff - You'll find tons of classics... some on single artist discs and some that are just mixed on a 50's or 60's or 70's, etc... disc. You can start with "Pocket Songs." After that, check out the sale that's going on right now with Dow Wop Karaoke at www.doowop.com and their new website, www.doowopmushicshop.com. They are having a $6 sale on remaining "Pioneer" CDGs (as well as a few others, but I strongly recommend that you add "Pioneer" to your library while you can... these are out of print/discontinued). For more classics, you can continue your search with "Sound Choice" (but it will be as I described above... 1 or 2 songs here and there all mixed together on multiple discs).

For current stuff, I recommend "Pop Hits Monthly" (Pop).

If you are looking for that many songs I'd call Soundchoice and talk to one of their reps. I did this years ago and they were very helpful. It will be hard not to end up with duplicates to get everything you're asking for though. They may cut you a break on price if you are buying in bulk. I know you said price wasn't a problem, but I'd take it if they were offering it.

My favorite manufacturers are Monster Hits. I find that most of their versions are pretty close to the originals. Newer sound choice is also very good in this regard. Top hits Monthly also rates high in my list.
Hope this helps.

If you're looking for a collection - as suggested start with the SOUDNCHOICE Foundation sets 1 and 2 and then all 5 bricks as add ons.

Chartbuster also has starter packs - but start with one or the other as all starter packs will have similiar songs.

Check out the chartbuster essentials. They are priced right, come in sets of 450 songs and do not duplicate other essential sets. I think there are 8 sets now. Chartbuster also has 50 and 100 song sets for specific times or genres but there is duplication with the essential sets. Since 2000 chartbuster has also published best of yearly sets for both pop and country. This is a good way to keep your songbooks updated. The chartbuster essential set number one is one of my favorites. This set gets a lot of workout at my shows.
