Like mentally dealing with a terminal disease, I've gone from anger and denial to quiet acceptance as just part of the job when it comes to "Picture".
It is going to be around forever.

The newest song to be sung here is - Bleeding Love - Leona Lewis
I'm not sure if it will be a classic, but it seems to be as popular as Before He Cheats was.

Yup "Bleeding Love" is the big new one in my room too Babs. Don't know if it will stick around either. "No One" was just as big a few months ago and has pretty much faded away.
My only guess on a recent track is "Stay" and it's just based on the fact that where are a variety of women who sing it, and it just steadily keeps coming up. But it's just a guess. And that's just my room. So who knows? A few years out is the only way really.

I would expect on a stage that size the acoustics will be difficult at best for a singer...and she didn't appear to have floor monitors once she started moving around...but it was atrocious. I know I've heard people say at the awards shows it's tough on them to hear while performing on stage. But hello- how do the ones who stay on key manage it? I've literally NEVER heard Martina McBride go off key live- ever. Nor Gretchen Wilson. But I've heard the Wreckers on an old Nashville Star episode... the harmony was attrocious. I've heard Alan Jackson, Kenny Chesney, Racal Flatts, lots of the populars go off key a bit at times. But I've seen Taylor on quite a few times (seems she's hottie enough to be invited to perform live lots of places) and she's awful EVERY time. I'll agree she's easy on the eyes. So, perhaps she should have been a swimsuit model, not a singer? Sara Evans... yeah, one CMA show when she did "Coalmine", I could not believe how bad she did. She used to be one of my favorites, still is I guess, but I wonder now how she's be live. Auto tuner? That would be nice. No, wait, on second thought.... no it wouldn't. If I couldn't sing and attract an audience on my own merit, I'd be selling insurance instead of singing for a living. (oh wait.. I am) Quote: Any one notice how Rhonda Vincent has been made over to fit the more 'video friendly' look?
Yes, she has. I met her in person both last year and this year at the River City Bluegrass Festival. When I first saw her (all blonde and tons of makeup) I was surprised.... that's not how she looked on the cd covers I had of her. Actually though, she is awesome live, and one of the nicest, most down-to-earth people. I don't think her stardom is going to her head too much.... she must just be doing what her producers tell her to do. I dunno, we all die our hair from time to time, but it's kinda sad that looking better can sell more records.
I'm totally done threadjacking..... Sorry for being off topic. (like.... 4 posts in a row)

On Topic:
I don't recall seeing these here, but these are done all the time, have been for a couple years now, and I can't see them fading anytime soon:
All Jacked Up
Hollaback Girl
Jackson (old song, but newly revived since the movie)
As for oldies that wont ever die:
These Boots Are Made For Walkin'
I Love Rock N' Roll
Picture of Me w/out You (Lori Morgan version)
As to the song "Picture"... WHY is it always the terrible singers who latch on to that one? I've rarley heard a decent karaoke version of it. (and even then... usually only one of the partners can carry a tune)

All Jacked Up Hollaback Girl Jackson (old song, but newly revived since the movie) Rarities here. Jackson was done maybe 2 or 3 months ago. All Jacked Up I can't remember the last time & never had Hollaback - ok I just checked & don't have this one, but it has also never been requested for me to get. Picture Of You? Don't think i'd consider that a longevity song, never heard that one done. The others yes!

Don't worry about it. I'm not one who cares whether a thread I've started goes astray or not. I started this one over morning coffee just to gab really. And do a little light speculating... no heavy mental lifting.
I've learned the hard way that there are people in this forum who take their threads very seriously and go totally ballistic If I veer even slightly off their charted course in a post. But that's not me.
And check it out. I just took my own thread OT.

Isn't it funny how "regular" songs vary from place to place? (even when as close as what you are to me?)
I hear all of those on a regular basis. On the other hand, some of the songs that are listed here... I don't think I have ever heard. Of course, country music dominates here, but we do have our share of rockers and poppers. (haha, is that a word?) Ya know what I mean.

You are SO off topic Bill, c'mere and get your spankin'.......
Thanks. I get tired of the bickering about it, so I do try to stay on topic. (but.. it's hard) You'll be talking about something, it makes ya think of something entirely different, you talk about that, then something else comes to mind....
Or maybe I just have an wandering imagination? haha

Also you have to consider age into the equation. Chances are songs like Picture Of You & These Boots Are Made are not being done by anyone under the age of 30. Our crowds consist of 21-35 average. We get a bunch of musicians from local rock/grunge/metal bands coming in and they tend to sing more rock/metal than anything. The country that gets done is usually from the 90's to now. RARE is I ever hear any Sinatra, or the dreaded ROSE, Broadway is not a big hit in our room.
I think this calls for a new polll

Lonnie, we never hear Sinatra- or classical/opera style, or Broadway. Not often do I hear songs that are totally strange to me. (strange people-yes, but not music)
Like I said, country dominates here, classic rock would be second I think... but you get some heavy metal, some bluesy stuff, some alternative, some pop. I think I've heard a little of everything (barring classical, thank heavens) but then again, I've been going to these same 2 places for years.
Now, I'm curious. I'm gonna start making a song list the next handful of times I go out. I'm not a KJ, just another singer in the crowd, so it's not like I memorize every song choice made each night. But now I'm gonna.... out of curiosity. Might be I'm recalling my favorites the most. (which, would be, the country music) One thing I do know for sure, my list wil be very repetitious... there are quite a few who never ever step out of the box- they are literally still singing the same 4 -6 songs they did 4-6 years ago....

I only brought that up because of a thread a while back on most overdone songs today & alot of people were listing Sinatra songs and The Rose and the likes of those types.
