Hi! I'm a KJ working four nights a week at four bars in Raleigh, N.C. I've worked steady (2-6 nights a week) for almost five years now.
My business name is KJ's Karaoke. ("KJ's" stands for Kimberli, my wife, and Jerry, me!)
I am "old school," lugging around a ton of equipment and CDGs, even old laserdisks, which I haul around in a 1973 VW van. I do everything myself - set-ups and breakdowns, mike work and promotions.
I love my job and I love the friends I've made doing karaoke.
Personally, I like singing to the Temptations, '60s/'70s rock and pop, the Rat Pack and old country.

Hi Jerry
Four nights a week of setting up and tearing down, you're my hero. LMAO
That is a lot of work. I'm fortuante enough to be able to leave my equipment in the same spot 3 nights a week. I'd dread going to work if I had to tear down every night by myself. Hats off to you and welcome aboard !

Hey Jerry, Where in Raleigh are you? I'm from the Fayetteville area (Raeford, NC) . I went to NC State from 85-91 and worked uo there in the 1996 timeframe after Hurricane Fran. Currently working at Fort Bragg. Welcome to the site.

Hello Marc! I grew up in Lumberton, and my grandparents were in little ol' Shannon, just down the road from Raeford.
I was at NC State 1974 and 1975 (GO WOLFPACK!), and returned to Raleigh in 2001. Started gigging karaoke full-time in 2003.

NC is a great place. I've lived in Arapahoe, Jacksonville, Wilmington, Raleigh, Fayetteville, and now Raeford. I married my Wife in New Bern. NC is home for me.
