My birthday was July 7.

I went to my regular Thursday night show and about an hour into the show, one of the regulars got on the mic and said:

"Alan, we wanted to show you how much we appreciate you. We decided to do a little strip for you. They all got up and surrounded me. They took off their shirts and they had T-shirts underneath. The women's shirts said "Alan's Groupie" and the men's shirts said "Alan's Roadie." It was moving. :crying2:

It makes lugging that equipment around and putting up with the occational drunk worth it.

Alan that's a great story and happy belated b-day to you from hawaii!

You must really have a great loyal group of singers and friends for them to pay to print up those shirts just for your birthday. Loyalty, friendship, thoughtfulness, and compassion are what i look for and give to my regular patrons. You seem to have it all!

Congrats and Warmest Aloha from paradise! J.R.

Coolness, but if those guys are going to put "roadie" shirts on, make them lug your equipment. :P

That's nice, sounds like you've developed real friendship with your singers. Happy Birthday!

Wow. Nice story and a nice group of folks you have there, you're very fortunate. I'm sure you must do a great job to warrant that kind of thing from your peeps.

Thanks for the birthday wishes. BTW, all of the guys that wore the "roadie" shirts do help me alot. Since my spinal fusion, my back hasn't been the same. They are very loyal good people, and I enjoy every one of them. I'll post a picture of the group tomorrow.

I forgot one detail. My wife had a shirt made, too that says "Head Groupie." Kind of funny. :D

That is a great story, patrons that care about their entertainment host. I've developed several good friendships and a whole lot of other acquaintences in my brief 3yrs of working this business. About once a month when I get a minute to drop by and see my old friends and old hangout. It's like I've not missed a beat. I got to stop in there last night, after playing a party about 15miles away. I got there about 15min before last call, got to sing one song and packed the dance floor with few groups of people that were there. A little Funky Cold Medina, seems to get the dance crowd...everywhere I go. Not my favorite song to do, but I keep doing it...because it always packs the dance floor. Many of the other songs that I like better and I think I sing better...sometimes don't get a response. This staple always does. So, what was the birthday present from the 'head groupie'.....:)

Happy Belated Birthday !

It's a great feeling when your regulars show they appreciate you and the hard work you put in. It makes it all worth doing night after night. You don't get that kind of recognition if you are a bad host, so this shows a lot about what a great show you have. Keep up the good work !
