Yesterday, and today when I booted up my computer, this window comes up that in the top bar says, “jusched.exe –No Disk” and in the window itself, with a red circle/white X, it says,
“There is no disk in the drive. Please insert a disk into drive \Device\Harddisk2\DR4” then the buttons ‘Cancel’ ‘Try Again’ ‘Continue’
Not being a computer geek, I have no flippin’ idea what it’s talking about and why this is popping up, and there doesn’t seem to be any way to get rid of it. I have tried clicking on the buttons repeatedly, and the ‘closing x’ in the upper right corner, it just pops right back up. It isn’t affecting anything I want to do on the computer, just sits there annoying me. Can anyone help?

I googled your error message and from what I read it sounds like either a virus or some type of malware / spyware.
There seems to be some software programs that will fix available but I really coudn't reccomend one over another.
I will reccomend you also google your error message(s) and do some reading, and if you still have questions...google your questions.
Sorry I couldn't be of more help.

the jusched.exe is an auto update program that resides in winxp for Java. It runs in the background, consuming a small amount of memory. Most people think it's a virus, when by itself it's not.
Here's a good article on it

Problem is, that article doesn't address the issue, which relates to the "no disk" error message. That does indeed sound like a virus, which most likely attacks through an infected file, in this case, jusched.exe.

I managed to get rid of the error message that is in the subject line, only to have a new one, hkcmd.exe pop up with the same message. Got rid of that by un-checking it in the start up part of msconfig, now it’s the igfxtray.exe also in the startup. I finally took everything out of the startup except the absolute necessity, and now get an error message on booting that I need to return to the ‘normal startup’. When I do, then the problems come back.
My Norton antivirus is no longer working, and right now I can’t afford to re-subscribe. I know there are some free antivirus programs out there, but can’t remember what they are called. Does anyone know?
Thanks for the help guys, greatly appreciated!

AVG is a great free virus software, as mentioned above.
Not sure if this will work, as your system doesn't seem unstable, but you can always do a system restore to a few days before the error message appeared. The fact that you removed these things from your startup and the message appeared attached to new .exe files confirms that you do have a virus. Better fix it quick, because it sounds like it's running rampant.

honey get avast...its free and you can resubscribe every year for free, AND its the best i have tried...get the home edition and let it do the initial scan on startup and it will find the blighters and clean them. Make sure you register it and you will get a registration key that unlocks a whole heap of other functions. It quite seriously eats Nortons and avg

http://www.file.net/process/hkcmd.exe.html <-- Info on hkcmd.exe
AVG Free 8.x is the one I use..
www.download.com has it..
When you select other than "Normal Startup" msconfig gives an error message..
Uncheck the box on the error message so it stops..

I'm also an AVG fan and really I don't understand why everyone isn't using it. I stopped using Norton and McAfee years ago when they stopped doing what they were supposed to do. I've cleaned computers for other people who had Norton or McAfee that were infected with all kinds of viruses and trojans that were never detected. AVG is da bomb. Works quietly, uses little resources, faithfully downloads updates regularly. Thank goodness for AVG.

I paid for avg pro after using the home version for bout 3 years (as long as I had new email addys) but after using avast I would never change.
I challenge you to try it...cos they wont expect you to pay for it after a year

The hotel I work for has 18 computers and they all had avg running. Till I challenged the computer guy who looks after them to try avast. He now installs avast on every new computer he sells and anything he has to service.

awesome!
I use "antivir" - free from download.com! Well, that with the Google Toolbar with popup blocker.
Haven't had a problem in two years with 'em.

I just want to thank all of you for the helpful input. I did download one of the recommended programs and ran it. There are some conflicts with the old Norton program and I am having some problems removing all of it from my computer, but I think I can work through that. The new antivirus program found 11 infected files which were removed, and that seems to have taken care of the problem

Symantec has a removal program to get rid of the dregs..
How do I completely uninstall Symantec AntiVirus?
Problem: The solution to many problems with Symantec AntiVirus is to completely uninstall Symantec AntiVirus, then re-install. You can use these instructions to completely uninstall Symantec AntiVirus.
Solution: In order to completely uninstall Symantec AntiVirus and all related components you need to follow these instructions.
Note: This procedure will remove all Symantec products, not just Symantec AntiVirus.
1. Click on Start | Settings | Control Panel
2. In the control panel double-click on Add / Remove Programs
3. Look through the list of installed programs for any item that says either "Norton" or "Symantec" or "LiveUpdate". (for example "Symantec AntiVirus Corporate Edition" or "Norton AntiVirus 2000")
4. For each "Norton", "Symantec", or "LiveUpdate" item, select the item and click Add / Remove. Follow the instructions, and click Yes or Yes to all when prompted.
When you are done there should be no items in the list that say "Norton", "Symantec", or "LiveUpdate".
5. Click OK to close the Add / Remove Programs window.
6. Reboot your computer if it hasn't already automatically rebooted.
7. Delete the c:\Program Files\Symantec AntiVirus (or c:\Program Files\Norton) folder.
8. Delete the c:\Program Files\Symantec folder.
9. Delete the c:\Program Files\Common Files\Symantec Shared folder.
If uninstalling Symantec AntiVirus using Add / Remove Programs does not work, you can use the directions on Symantec's uninstalling website to manually remove all elements of Symantec Antivirus from your computer.
