it appears that the right knee has a totally detached anterior cruciate ligament and a ripped cartilage...Now where have I heard that before.
I dont get to see the surgeon till 31 July, but my doctor reckons another operation is a certainty
I have one major problem with this...why did it take me begging the surgeon to mri the right leg when it was documented it was damaged at the same time as the left on the 8th of january. The mri to the right knee only occured last wednesday...would it not have made more sense to mri them both together, after all the right one had to come with me for the first mri.

Morgan,
Sorry to here of your continuing knee problems. Hope the doctors can make it all right this time. Maybe someday you will get to make your trip. If you come to East Tennessee I would sure get a kick out of meeting you.

Crap Crap Crap !
I'm so sorry to hear about your knees. I've had knee surgery myself and it was no picnic. Some people bounce back from it with no problems though. I was in a leg immobiliser for 2 months. My leg atrophied quite a bit. It ended up being 2 inches smaller around. It is fine now and it is back to normal size after a few yrs.
I've had friends that have had the same surgery with no ill effects. One of them was walking a week later. I guess it depends on the person.
I wish you the best of luck and a quick recovery ! I can't wait to meet you in person some day, so you have to get better.

Sorry to hear about you knee Morgan.
The reason that they didn't mri the right knee the first time you went
is because:
1. That would have made to much sense.
2. They couldn't charge for two doctor/mri visits.
3. If the did surgery on both knees at the same time they could not
charge you (or whatever kind of insurance plan you have up there)
twice for hospital rooms/beds/meds/etc.
Keep ya in our prayers

I guess I will need to go to NZ then, I could help you with your physical therapy too!
That has to be frustrating from what you described about begging your surgeon, it doesnt make sense. Anyway, Vicki, hope they get you fixed up soon. Ron

Not to hijack your post, but I have a new knee, (Left one) and October this year will be two years..
Prior to surgery, I dropped by the physical therapy store and exercised my legs for 3 months..
After surgery, they couldn't believe how quickly I recovered..
And for the record, I had the knee replaced at UCLA Medical.. My doc teaches others how it works.. and he designed the knee..
So I'm pleased.. I hope you get to visit soon..

JD due to the fact I couldnt have the op for so long becos of the coughing I was doing (postponed it twice) I too had been having physio for some weeks before I had the op and it certainly made it easier to recover. As both my legs have been working since the operation, I dont forsee having a 2nd operation to be a prob...as to getting over there, it will be 2010.

When you finally get in to see the surgeon, hope it all goes well. If you come to Wisconsin, I'll push your wheel chair. Meanwhile, take care of your knee. My GF, The Lovely Lori, injured her knee last year and had surgery on it and it still hurts.

(((((((((Andy)))))))) thanks sweety...the written report was sent to me today via my accident case manager...whereas I had one ligament detached and a tear in my cartilage in my left knee...my right knee is sooo much worse than even I imagined and it's been me having the pain. The anterior cruciate ligament is detached, there is a tear of the cartilage in almost the exact place that it was in the left knee, plus there are two other tears in ligaments that I have yet to introduce myself to.
I am about ready to punch my previous gp's lights out because it was him that kept insisting there was nothing wrong and I was making it up. With his opinions, the surgeon was reluctant to send me for another mri...I had to beg him to do so. He finally sent me for one 10 days ago...remember that I injured myself on 8th January...arent you glad you dont live in New Zealand? Even my case manager for Accident compensation corporate (state owned) is appalled, and its them that normally kick up about spending money. If it hadnt been for her and the physiotherapist writing to add their voices to mine I would still be no further ahead
