Check this out. Could be this slickest karaoke software I've ever seen. Many new additions to come too!

So what makes this better (in your opinion) than other programs out there.

Are you familiar with Latshaw products? If you are then you wouldn't be asking.
If you aren't familiar, then you should check it out. It has unparalleled search, a top notch key changer that doesn't distort on lower key changes (twangy vibrato), auto focus anywhere on the screen, built in crossfading, built in dual monitors, just start typing a song name or artist name without any concern where your mouse is pointing and it types in the correct place, everyhing needed is located on on screen (no need to look at other tabs), super hi-tech appearance, and lots more.

I guess that is a good starter for reasons.

Obviously you didn't go to to their site because the first statement is that it is bulit with MS.Net software.

Downloaded the demo - yes it requires netframe (no big Hoster does as well), seemed pretty complicated without having to go into the help section much. Not alot to it as far as features, but that don't bother me as I use it just for a player anyway, rotation stuff I have no use or interest in.
I don't use mp3g for karaoke, kma only so couldn't test that part but being it only uses mp3 based media, chances are I wouldn't ever use it. wma would by second choice.
It locked up & crashed when I tried to point it to my dj music folder to test that part.
Not seeing the greatness in it.

Right then Bob: The key changer. My attempts to write a key changer sucked. So, how did you deal with the harmonics in a digital framework? Did you bother to write your own CDG graphics software? Why in the name of the Great Googlie Mooglie (his name ever be praised) would any sane person use .Net for a stand alone app.? Can you say bloat-ware????

Who Is Bob?

I'm not sure I have ever seen such negativity and resistance to change and/or improvement, in a forum in my life. Are you people that unhappy?

Not a matter of being happy or not. This program may be the best thing since sliced bread in your opinion. Just basing my initial opinion on the demo alone I wasn't impressed one bit especially after it crashed on me. Everyone has their own. I love Hoster, others hate it. They like Compuhost, others hate that, etc.. & so on. If it fits the bill & the program does what you need it to do, then that is the best product for you - bottom line. This would not be a program I would want to use.

This program that is the best thing since sliced bread wouldn't even install properly on my XP computer. It wouldn't even run. I guess I'll never know how good it is.

For $150 it's going to be an uphill battle to get people to buy it. Powerkaraoke sells their professional Karaoke hosting program for $99. Other commonly used programs are going for $100 or much less. For $150 I would trust a proven program like Compuhost for a few dollars more. People here aren't negative, they're some of the most knowledgeable Karaoke people around and you would be smart to listen to their feedback. I've tried probably 10 Karaoke programs and most were not very good. So far Karafun is the best, most stable and full featured program I've used. It has both key change and tempo adjustment. Even the Powerkaraoke professional hosting program doesn't have tempo adjustment.

Hey Guys,

This is beta product! Your imput is appreciated. This is one heck of a start. I haven't purchased it either. Give me a break! Let's see anyone of you of try to do this. If you could I am sure you wouldn't be a Karaoke host. New karaoke stuff is what I continue to search for everyday. As I have said before "there is always a better way to do everything" ....but maybe it hasn't been thought up yet? Simpler, easier and more efficiently is all I am interested in. My background is "wet slug tantalum capacitor" design and manufacturing, not writing code. I, however, DO know effeciency and what it can do for you. Every unnecessary human movement consumes time. I know my limits and I allow those with their expertise to do what they do best. Since my career has long been consumed by the Asian markets, I have found karaoke to be a very enjoyable way to pass my spare time.

Mrmarog (not Bob)

I haven't downloaded the demo, and likely won't because $150 for a karaoke hosting program is outrageous in my opinion, but if Karma is anything like Latshaw's other flagship product, Song List Generator, I'd pass anyway.

I love the idea behind SLG, but it's got so many bugs (all attributed to the silly 'NET framework) and a serious lack of necessary features, that I'm now regretting paying $80 for it. I have a sneaking suspicion Karma might suffer from the same lack of attention to detail.

Latshaw's one saving grace is that they responded quickly to every e-mail I sent when trying to load SLG onto my Vista computer (it never would, so I had to break down and load it onto an older XP computer - very inconvenient). Curious to know how they'll respond to an e-mail I plan to send next week letting them know about some necessary, though missing, features.

I've noticed, as Lonman mentioned above, that people are emotionally committed to one KJ method or another. I'm very happy with Hoster. It does everything I need it to to. I don't make extra moves anywhere, anytime, that's just my nature. One can continually search for 'better' ways to do things - but if the basic requirements of the system are the same, and the method to reach them is basically the same, it simply becomes a matter of the best way for each person to achieve this.

I suppose driving a 1965 Volkswagen Beetle, which faithfully gets you from A to B every time you ask it, albeit it taking a little longer, but at a cost of $1000, is preferable to some, while others may invest $50,000 in a fancy rig that will get you there faster but with other inherent costs, and a little boost to the ego.

Interestingly, with any job there are people who master their tools - and find the most efficient way to use them, and in the most time-effective method. There are also those who must have the latest and greatest of everything - involving added expenditure, a time commitment to master the learning curve, and in the end they are maybe half a step ahead. Just human nature. This obviously occurs with KJ hosting equipment.

I have to chuckle at the criticism that is generated of any and all KJ software/hardware on this forum. It's karaoke, kids. It's only a method to bring the music to the people, for their enjoyment, and in the method best suited to the operator. That's all....

:x I have purchsed and went down the karma road and so far a mistake. I was a beliver in this company from my last purchase of thier song book software. then i decided to get a new show computer and everything came with vista and Latshaw said this was develop on a vista base i thought perfect. So i bought the program after running their trial had some gliches but they kept coming with new versions all week. I tested at home and decided to go live last thursday after two hour into the show the system crashes i try rebooting and crashes again, so i restart program one more time and now stays lock on loading screen. luckly I have the old computer running S&D and finish the show. Well the next day I email Latshaw with all this info , try unistalling and redownloading thier latest version still just locks up upon start. Oh yeah no response this time from latshaw . Wish i went to the casino with 149 dollars now!

Like was said earlier it is a beta release, basically those who download and use (test) should be reporting any problems to Latshaw Systems, not bi#%hing about it on here.
I own 3 Latshaw Systems software products and couldn't be happier. All 3 have saved me many countless hours of tedious work, my only regret is that I didn't find these products earlier.
I don't think I will be trying this new product of theirs though as I am completely satisfied with what I am curently using now...got things set up to do eveything I want, with ease and running rock solid, but I have every confidence that when Karma is ready for final release it will also be a solid program...one more choice for us all.

Karen K said it very well in her post above "It's only a method to bring the music to the people, for their enjoyment, and in the method best suited to the operator. That's all.... "

Oh belive me i have reported and suggested many things with good response but when i became a owner and it won't even load and now no response this is not right! And as far as a beta program they are handling it wrong you either have beta testers untill its fully developed. or if you are going to release a half done program you don't require 149 bucks to fully test it!

Yeah I agree with that, they should have beta testers working with the deveolpment before releasing into the general population. I don't have the time to test another product, already working with another.
