For the moment I'm just investigating how to put together a small footprint computer system for karaoke, this is just a testbed for the software side ATM.

Current system:
Hardware
Small form PC (2nd user Compaq 6350) 10UKP
Radeon 7000 VE TV Out PCI 30UKP
Spare 40GB hdd 0UKP (it's a pull from an upgrade I did)

Software
WinAMP 2.91
CDG Plugin 1.2
BrowseAmp 2.06 with a custom created 'skin'
PaceMaker 1.32

here's my setup,
2 jbl sr4722x
2 jbl sr4726
2 jbl sr4718
2 carvin 8302 (my start out speakers, like a rock)
2 carvin monitors ( not sure of model)

2 carvin dcm 2000 amp (best clean watt/$, but do darn heavey)
1 Qsc plx3200 ( i love this amp, so light)
1 kenwood home amp (for the monitor)

1604 vlz mixer
numark dj mixer
midiverb 4
23** alesis eq
dbx cross over
furman power strip
3 pioneer dv333 and dv 434 (only these 2 model will play all of my dvds, i have to get it used on ebay now since it's like 6 years old)
e100 sennheiser cordless
2 sm58
lighting system and smoke machine

I think that's all I got :D . I love comming to this forum (even though I haven't for a while now) to read other peoples' experience in KJ and sound and the stories. Lonman, I still have a thing or two to learn from u and your setup.

I am in the asian community and so coffee parlor (karaoke, football, basketball joint, not a bar) don't hired kj but they have their own system and kj, usually one of the waittress or waiter, so I only KJ for wedding and parties. As you can guess I don't use all of my equipments at all the gig, but I did have a chance to use it twice for wedding 500 plus people. my singers and the guest that come up and sing love it (I have 3 singers, all girls of course :D and myself.) The groom and bride love its because the system looks good (it's an asian thing) but I believe the rest of the guests might have a deaf ear for a day or two  .

Unfortunately, I am about to graduate from college and need to look for a job in a different city so I have to stop my business :( in advance. (people usually call me at least 6 months in advance for their wedding) (A good 4 years span, 2 gigs per month)

Sorry for the long story of MY LIFE but I am really attach to my equipment which i spend every dimes and some student loans on and I assume alot of you guys do too so I feel no shame in listing it here or telling people what i have. anyways, let's hear what's in your system.

HI Guys - Not surprised by all the chest beating about equiptment. I was a photographer in NY for a few years and alot of photographers had the best equiptment you could get but sometimes they missed the point. Which for me was if you knew how to use it a cheaper or old camera often was enough. I was not about the equiptment but the creative ideas one has. Now I know the Karaoke scene being entertainment is different. I'm getting into to it because I like to sing and be around singing. Unlike Brian here I don't have a 18hr day every day, Thank God. Who wants that. I have a modest system that is easy to setup.

808s mackie powered mixer
2 - 15" Yamaha Club Cabs
Madison 12" powered monitor
triple tray JVC player
1 shure SM58a -beta, 2 shure PM58s, 2 peavy PVM22s

I'd like to get a sub and 2 more speakers for larger clubs.

Kenny & webrabbit.. not bad.. Kenny so far I'm impressed...

I just saw a Karaoke system tonight that's built in a DJ's Turntable case!!!!

I have been "Promised" a weblink & .jpgs of the finished product when it's done..

I have been sworn to keep it a secret how it was done and the equipment list.. and who co-oped on it, but the patent has already come back.

The company has already shot me a price on thier system, minus software.

I will get to "test drive" it soon so I have been told..

I wanted to post a picture, but it wouldnt let me. It is a really simple looking setup for the sound it outs out.

I would like it to grow up to be a 20 gigawatt system like Brians tho.

But I'll wait till I go deaf from this one first

um, underneath the posting (that you type in) is "Add Attachment"

You might need to edit your picture down in size to make it fit with the allocations.

And you can always post an image from a free service, such as angelfire! They allow image linking!

I do it all the time with my "website" for my Image smilies!

Matt

Brian,
Now that's an impressive system.

One item has caught my attention that I haven't seen posted here before.

dbx Driverack, which one do you use? And where do you put it in your signal path?

I picked up a Driveravk PA & Ev SxA 250 speakers around christmas,(for my DJ setup), just haven't the time to seriously play with them yet.

Just curious.

Lito,
I used the "Driverack PA" on this system.. the 260 is in 3 of the arizona systems.. but it would be overkill for this system being it's only being run 2 way. the other option was to use an older BSS "Omni Drive" that I had just laying around here but would had to process it a little more and really didn't wish to do that.

Lito..
I just re-read your earlier post, it goes in the same place as any Active electronic crossover would go. in between the console before the power amplifier on main output. in a bi or Tri-ampable situation. if yiu needed more the 260 would be a better alternative.

Sorry for not catching that earlier. 8)

That's interesting seeing the two RSQ505s.

Why not a triple tray?

Not disrespect, but actual professional curiosity.

I personally have more cdg customers than I do vcd or dvd needs... and the ability to have three queued up singers and one playing is excellent to me.

Cort,
No complaints from here.. real nice set up..

Matt: I don't need a real fast set up.. and If I end up with my Pioneer DVD media set from any of the other units (which can easily happen on this unit as this unit, as it can be combined with any of the others as an expansion unit) now I have the players to do it with. and I don't need no stinkin' 3 drawer player anyway, with the way this is set up. I can see my cued up track before it is switched it's extremely well planned out. Almost rocket science to most people. :P  :swg: especially with Analog to digital audio and HDTV Video Technology.

The system will see it's first club use in 3 weeks.
and be used in a corperate show this weekend I hope... :|

Been browsing the forums for a while and finally decided to join and post.

Just got into this biz on a very limited budget concentrating on smaller bars and the casino I am employed by day in.. very small lounge. Nothing impressive and quite humble.. so here goes...

American Audio APX 15" speakers (now used as monitors)
JBL EON 15 mains

Behringer DX1000 mixer
VocoPro CDG8000 Dual Deck
Pioneer dual tray
Voco Pro Key Adjuster
ART FXR
Behringer PEQ 2200 parametric EQ
Behringer MDX1400 AUTOCOM compressor
NADY Wireless Mic
2 SHURE PG58

I have always had good luck with Behringer in the DJ equipment I use, so I opted to remain loyal to brand name. The small areas I started in allowed me to start on the cheap for the speakers. After I worked a couple of larger places, I saw the need for the speaker upgrade. That is where the monitors come in. It boiled down to starting up by getting a weekly gig and having no equipment.. had a bout 3k to spend and that included cd+g's!! I did research on the CD+G issue and blew close to $800 on the Foundation 1.. in October.. of course if I had waited.. I could get it for about half tha price and spent the extra on the EONs in the first place.. cest la vie...

In some of the casino bars ya don't need much more than that.. it will do it for ya.. the idea is ti get the sound quality not the volume.. and ya don't need to throw the sound more than 40' most of the time anyways.. so it's all extremely short throw a majority of the time in those places.. I can see why you went as low end as ya did.. for your sake I just hope all your media is original and not burned unless you have the manufacturer's permission to proceed with the "fair Use" clause in the copyright law.
