I have an nvidia card on my laptop, and purchased sax and dotty show presenter. I have a basic setup right now where I see my program on my laptop screen, and the lyrics are visible to the singer on the extra monitor. It's working great and no problems. What i wanted to do however was somehow add a projector to the mix, so that the audience can see the lyrics too. How do i accomplish this?

a projector would act as your second or even third screen. The ones I've seen literally do the extend desktop and you appoint your software to see it on that particular window.

Most projectors that install as a device on the computer have instructions on how to use them with the pc. For Sax or other karaoke software, you just drag the karaoke window to the appropriate screen.

I know how to extend the monitors---i only have one s-video out---and i want to source the output to two additional monitors---for a total of three. Would an s-video splitter work in this case? That's the only thing i can think of, but i've never used one.

That's what it's designed to do, to take the s-video output to more than one device or screen.

Other options would be like a unique Rabbit type device, where you can send the initial signal to a frequency to be picked up on a wireless system.

I've investigated this in the past, but never been satisified with the results.

Yes, you can split the signal, depending on what type of output you're sending it to.

I use an S video cable to RCA going from my laptop, use a dual RCA splitter, then just send the signal to both monitors. Works like a charm every time.

Okay, I ran the S-Video to a Distribution Amplifier (which is available at Radio Shack)... Only problem is, Windows XP doesn't see a Second Monitor when I do this... Windows XP sees the Second Monitor when I go directly from laptop to screen, but not when attempting to split into 2 screens...

I am trying to send the Lyric Screen (Singers Screen) to 2 different tv's... My laptop has 1 S-Video Out... And the 2 Tv's both have S-Video in...

Anyone have any suggestions???

Thanks in advance... :-)

I've used this to go from s-video out on a computer to a TV and projector and it works great:

Cables to Go 29164 Velocity S-Video Y-Cable, 1 ft. - Blue

You can find it from various on-line retailers, I paid under $8 for mine...

Do you have both the distribution amplifier and monitor turned "on" when you boot up?

The video input in that DA is not terminated with a low enough resistance (typically 75-100 ohms) and your laptop is not sensing it. I had to bridge it with a 330 ohm resistor. It now works fine.

With that DA you can input S-video and use the 4 RCA outs or the s-video outs but you cant mix them.

Again A video board senses a unit plugged in when the units video input is terminated with 75 ohms. It makes no difference if the external is powered or not. One can short the video output with a y5 ohm resistor and the laptop goes into dual video mode with 2 displays.

Thats the DA I use along with some I have designed and built from scratch. (That is a fault of that DA) If you you have a techie type near have them bridge the input resistor with another one to bring the input resistance close to 75 ohms. Then with the DA plugged in during boot up the laptop goes into the dual display mode.
