As my venue is a bit raucous and I've had some of my nice page-protected song binders walk over the years, I now put out 5 complete books the pages of which are not encased in plastic, all the sheets are simply comb-bound with a hard cover. Usually they have to be replaced after about 4 months, but by that time I'm updating the listings anyway and it's still considerably cheaper than investing in binders and page protectors.

I can't really expect patrons to return books to the stage as soon as they're done with them, so they end up sitting on their tables and when new people come in they have to search for the books.

So what I'm going to do is put out "menus" of "most popular" karaoke songs. I bought some 6-;age bound (stitched) plastic menu covers from a restaurant supply house, each of which give me 12 visible 8-1/2" X 14" sheets. I plan on making it a karaoke menu of sorts with the songs in genres/categories (Pop, Rock, Country, Duets, etc.) rather than listed by title or artist.

As most people usually sing the same 200 titles anyway, I think this method would get the best songs into the most hands. I'll still have 5 complete books available, but if they're all out at least people can look through 500 or so of the most requested karaoke tunes.

My question...does such a list exist anywhere online? Might someone who uses a computer karaoke program be able to export their "most-sung" songs?

Thanks in advance for your input!

That's a good idea. I've wanted to do that for a while, but never quite get around to it. I'm sure there are some threads here that list the most requested songs, you'll just need to compile them since people list about 10 at a time. You might try googling it also. Only problem is that you may have some songs that are specific to YOUR venue. For example, I don't have many people request Country songs (except Johnny Cash, of course),

I bit the bullet and just had 15 books printed and protected in sheets. VERY EXPENSIVE. I do hate when they get kidnapped.

If you personally use a computer for your karaoke, there should be a way to look up your most played/requested songs (don't ask me how...just brainstorming). You could even "create" a counting/tracking program if there's not one on your system already...it's not very hard to do. Otherwise, what about keeping your request slips at the end of the night....for say a month (more if needed depending on number of shows per week), then logging the requests either on paper or on your home pc? While an online list may give you an overall idea of popular choices, it really boils down to your local crowd.

Several of the karaoke programs out do have song history tracking & can generate these reports easily. The one I use does not at this time. I would be interested if there was a counter program that could be adapated.
Keeping slips would only work if 1 - you used slips (several do not), 2 -if the singers didn't want their slips back after they sing (I have several that keep their slips).
