The man has never commented on any of my songs personally but as a fellow unbiased member I will be the first to stand up for him as being always courteous and respectful in every reply I have ever read.
We are ALL guilty of fluff every now and then but for someone to speak an honest statement from his honest opinion and get banned is not right at all.
I don't believe that's right and also think a petition for his reinstatement in good standings should be in order.
If I'm missing something then someone please let me know.

You've got to be kidding. Listener X was booted from SS ? For what ? He gave honest remarks and what he deemed honest (and may I add VERY generous) rank to those ONLY that requested Critique and Rank on their subs ! I happened to read his remarks and if more were as honest as him (to those stating they WISH FOR CRITIQUE AND RANK), I'd sub in SS, as opposed to needing to go elsewhere due to dishonesty in SS.. It's a sad day when adults who state they wish for Critique and Rank lynch the only person honest enough to acknowledge such individuals are stating their actual needs... This can't be happening, It's just wrong (ASSUMING that was actually Listener X and not somebody else using his name) !!

Unless (like the OP here) I too am not understanding something about some event that transpired. Based solely on his giving rank and critique to those requesting rank and critique, while having the guts to identify himself as the giver of rank below "9" that should be commendable, CERTAINLY not grounds for banishment. What is happening ? There's a technical problem, I too couldn't access the site earlier a good portion of the day

I don't understand how banning a person who substantiates offered rank to those requesting rank reasonably, one who listens and gives thought out critiques to those asking for critique in a mature delivery can be banned.. I've never been so confused in my 3 1/2 years on this site. This can't be ! There's another problem.

let me point out that I do not know the guy or his/her identity. He has always seemed as if he knew his way round the place and could have been a regular using an assumed name but I defend his right to be able to voice his own opinions as he was always courteous.
I mean, should Sebby also be banned for doing the same thing when she is here? Because it is no different...anyway, this is his email...who knows perhaps I will be banned for publishing it...

Seems someone didn't like the fact that I was offering honest opinions and commentary and got me kicked out of singersshowcase.
It is a sad day when honesty is no longer welcome. I am going to miss popping in and out from time to time for some good singing and friendly banter. I wanted to let you know that I appreciated our friendly exchanges and I will miss you and all of the others who welcomed me there!

Let the others know what happened to me and give them my regards. To you Vicki, I wish the best of luck and much happiness in all you do and future success with your singing!

I would respectfully ask the powers that be (who are VERY aware of the situation and dishonesty transpiring in the Showcase) to reconsider this banishment. Yet knowing how those that have the ability to banish a person here also wished for such honesty on their submitted material (and in fact were discouraged themselves by just receiving kudos and non-constructive fluff in the Showcase) there's something that doesn't make sense to me.. I just CAN'T believe he'd have been banned for that !

I remember when He, Listener X, was giving folks the "what for" and most people did not like him. At the time it seemed everybody wanted him gone. He actually gave me a positive comment the other day to which I was somewhat amazed because I didn't even know he was still on the site. Actually I don't care if he's here or not. But being banned because he spoke his mind and didn't kiss the singers (@$%&#!) with a lot of fluff, that's a different story. I run into that kinda crap at work daily where I have to "BABY SIT" ~ 60 adults. Why do we have to treat everybody as if though the world revolves around them? Grow up people and learn to take opinion, criticism and truth along with the positive. Everybody at SS is not a professional and I sure don't claim to be even a singer myself. Tell me where and when I suck as it can only make me better.
Bring Listener X back and welcome truth for once.

Is it possible he's assuming the earlier technical problem on the site that kept MANY of us out've SS today was a "ban" ? I can't imagine he was actually banished for that, I don't believe that would happen on a site such as this !

I have 15 million points, I'd wager a certain amount of those listener X wasn't banned for any critique and rank he offered in the Showcase. I'm still wondering if he was truly banned or thought a technical glitch was a ban. I can't believe that happened, however I DO believe there would've been complaints.. and regarding such complaints... Listener X wasn't in the wrong.. Those asking for Critique and Rank were !!


It's so much more rewarding getting an honest "7" knowing the person giving you the 7 would give you a "5" (without reticence) assuming you deserved the "5". How else can ANYBODY know whether they've done a decent job on a song or bombed ? Assuming they KNOW, why ask for critique and rank ? If people don't wish to improve WHY is there rank and critique offered ? Assuming singers know they will be offended by a rank below 9 WHY are they still asking others for honest Critique and Rank sabotaging what is designed to help those of us that wish to improve by lynching the VERY few who dare to fulfill their expressed desire ? Assuming they don't want HONESTY at all, why aren't they chastised ? I saw listener X give Vicky a "7" and was suprised to see that she accepted to graciously... A "7" is a dang good rank people ! Yeah IRBent, I guess I'm stating I agree with you 100% here.

Who here is a "9" average on 100 submitted songs ? ANYBODY ? Anybody ANYWHERE ? It doesn't happen in the real world.. So a ray of reason get's hung ?

Until the day comes that some of we folks who've shelved ALL ego aspects while learning to sing (because we MUST) can safely receive our "4" without others being offended by the fact that we want to earn our rank, and learn to sing, and realize ME getting a 4 doesn't affect any reality of who they are... Those that wish to improve aren't welcome in SS. Worst thing a person can do is give me a 7 rank when I've NEVER yet achieved a 7 song to date.. I;ve had a few 5's I'm proud of... Crosby, stills, nash "Helplessly hoping", yet it's only average among a group of :singers:.. I feel horrible this is happening here, I really do

While we ALL know there are sore people who are offended by ranks below 9 (although such rank is often 5 points higher than their singing ability exhibits) my question isn't "Who is the sore loser", but instead why were their complaints acknowledged to the point that Listener X was punished. Sometimes it's not the unconventional person who is in the wrong !

There must be more to this. I wonder if he challenged administration, or back-talked. It just doesn't make sense, does it ? I don't believe the mods I know here would do that unless something else transpired that doesn't meet our eye !! Until we know the facts I just can't believe offering rank and critique could ever get a person booted assuming it's offered in a reasonable manner.. From what I read, Listener X was constructive.. Perhaps he became belicose in an Email to administration ???





Anyway, I better get practicing my singing.. Big tour in two weeks !

Why do people assume he is banned. NO, he is not banned. There is some techical problem. There are many people who cannot login to SS at the moment. some cannot login to the main forum, and this incule Phill.

One of the reason maybe that he may not have a valid email in his profile.

Hey, yeah, you are all just "assuming".

I PM'd Phil specifically about why he was gone. Apparently, it was an email sent from KS, which kicked back because his given email was invalid (or missing) His profile was removed.... this is exactly what prompted me to start that thread in the other forum today... Phil said tell everyone. (and... he did warn about it quite a while back) I posted the reminder thread, cause hell, people with invalid/missing emails are going to go "poof".... already are.

To my knowledge anyhow, THIS is why Listener X is gone... not because anyone has complained about him. Straight out of the horse's mouth. (sorry Phil, not that you're a horse, it's a manner of speach) Heck, Phil can't even hardly get on here and read his PM's, even if someone were complaining.

Edited in: I don't think it's a "technical issue" though, his profile is removed.

Anyhow, I really don't think that was it this time. I honestly think most everyone took Listener X's comments just fine, from what I've seen. (except maybe a few)

Right, It's been a long time since he was last here. Perhaps he has a different Email address and domain, and hasn't updated his profile.. Banned given the visible circumstances was too confusing for my little horrible-singing pea-brain to comprehend..

I don't know who he is, but he has always been nice to me. I've never heard anything from anyone that said otherwise. What happened? It sure must have been quick and done really quietly. This doesn't seem right. I agree with Ken. B

Was it possible that he assumed he was banned because of his profile disappearing. Wouldn't he have received a notice of some sort. Seems if his e-mail address is incorrect he couldn't possibly have received anything from admin. I'm hoping this is all a case of jumping the gun.

dunno Barb I have responded to his email and did in fact ask him what exactly made him think he was banned..I said that phil was experiencing probs getting on the site himself and that becos of it I doubted he would have the time unless he had been a really bad boy, to even think of banning him
