Between 2 systems:

The system will be for house parties and small outdoor events, not really clubs or anything like that. Really like the LCD monitors on the first system, but not sure the components are as good quality.

Neither of them. For that kind of money I would buy some pro equipment, not that "karaoke mixer" stuff. "Mark 38 Professional" microphones, indeed.

Is there anyone that provides consulting or planning service to help choose or design a system for this kind of money? My other problem is I need the system in hand by next Thursday, the 14th.

If you look at the components of the second system, it actually is pretty good. Yamaha P7000S amp, Yamaha S115V speakers....good player...good wiring

I actually think that system is much better than the more expensize system they are offering.

You should go with that system if you need something ready-made quickly. The VocoPro mixer is probably the weak link in that system, so I'd look into upgrading that in the future, and make sure you have some wired mics on hand for when that wireless setup craps out (it is pretty low-quality as well).

But overall, it is a good rig for smal to medium rooms.

HOWEVER, you could put together the same thing with higher quality components for about the same $$, so you may want to try a pro music site and just copy the good components, and upgrade the wireless mics and mixer to some pro-quality stuff (everything else is good quality stuff in that package!!). American Musical Supply will let you pay in installments without a finanace charge, so check them out if you decide to go this route.

PS: The Yamaha P5000S Amp is actually matched better to the S115V speakers, so they are also actually selling you more amp than you need. If you do put this package together on a pro music site, get the P5000S amp instead and you'll save your speakers plus some $$$.

For the application that you described I would sugest a mackie powered mixer(406m,808m,808s).One feature that I like about these powered mixers is that it has the capability of useing both amps as frontals or use the amps seperate 1 for frontals and the other for a vocal monitor.There are many other things you could add to this, a seperate effects prosessor ect. ect. but would start with the built in effects in the mackie and then go from there. I have also heard good things about the yamaha powered mixer but have no experience with it.

Mics-shure Sm58 is my choice of mics and if you read in this form the Sm58 is what people compare other mics to EX( well my______ is just as good or better than a Sm58).

Players-the cavs 203g-usb is my choice, this player plays many formats(cdg-scdg-ect.ect.) which its the scdg that sold me on it with an external hardrive.

Music- chartbuster 1-6 SCDG this will give you 2700 songs, the Nutech 1-3 SCDG will give you another 3700 songs and the magic tracks plus SCDG is another 1200+ song. You will have dups but when buying pre-packaged disks this happens.These SCDGs will load onto an external hardrive which the 203g-usb will hook up to and you can select songs off the hardrive and no changing disk.The 203g-usb will also play cdg and many other formats.Chartbuster also has 7&8 in the CDG and not in the SCDG.All this can be found on ebay,the 203g-usb with the nutech 1-3 and the external hard drive can be found as a pkg. deal.

Speakers-peavey pr12 or pr15 for your application I would sugest the pr12 with some small stands.

Music Books - my choice was Music Book Deluxe, it will let you make a master book which should include all dups (for you only) and a book with no dups.


To put something together in a couple of weeks would be tuff, take your time researching all the possibilities and what is going to work for your application.

If time is a factor maybe hire a kj for the 14th,see what that kj brings to your place and that would also give you an idea of what you would want. Also you could bend that kj ear and she/he could give you some insight.

I would rather spend money on a pro and have the 14th go off without a hitch than spend money on equipment that I later regret buying.



Visual monitor-I'm not sure but it seems that a lcd would be hard to read outside.

Your best consulting is going to be right here.

Where are you going to get your music? And how are you going to train yourself on it? I think I would go and find a local KJ and see if you could rent their system for the first week while you build your system....

If you were near me, I would deliver one and train you on it.

But since you probably are not, I would go to Guitar Center and buy:

1) Yamaha EMX-512C
2) Pair of Yamaha BR115V speakers
3) Crank up or Telelock stands (not the cheap ones)
4) Yamaha floor monitor, cheapest, handles 300W program
5) Speaker cables, 3 14ga or better, appropriate lengths like 25'
6) 2 Shure SM-58 mics
7) ProLine mic stand
Top-quality mic cords, 2ea 20-foot XLR
9) American Audio CDG350 (not sure about this, I use laptop)

That should be about $1800-2000 or so.

(if you simply must have wireless mics)

10) AKG WMS-40 dual wireless
11) two 1/4" TRS to XLR patch cables

Another $400.

Alternative setup for powered speakers:

1) Yamaha MG124CX mixer
2) Pair of JBL Eon 15P-1 speakers
3) Crank up or Telelock stands (not the cheap ones)
4) Fender 1270P powered floor monitor
5) Speaker connection cables, 2 XLR --> XLR, 1 1/4" --> XLR
6) 2 Shure SM-58 mics
7) ProLine mic stand
Top-quality mic cords, 2ea 20-foot XLR
9) American Audio CDG350 (not sure about this, I use laptop)

About $2100-2300.

And of course the wireless..

Then add a karaoke CDG player.

Duh, silly me. Home use. But the fact you were going to spend that much money means you want to invest for the future. So I stand by the equipment choices but with less in the monitor / stand area:
