If you are converting already existing mp3g files, yes it would make a second copy (I believe, I do not use mp3g) leaving the original file intact. Going straight from a cdg would be obviously 1 file.

If you are running a show & import an mp3g, it will convert while the current song is playing, then add to the playlist as a temp kma. If you want them permanently, you would convert them before hand.

- if hoster comes with cdgripper, what is the point of microstudio then?
Microstudio has nothing to do with Hoster. Hoster is fully self contained kj program complete with ripper, songbook maker, key changer, ability to play customer cdg directly.
Microstudio is for those who want to make custom cdg's, import several discs & burn a disc with selected songs. It's not necessary to have Microstudio for Hoster.

- how come there is no upgrade from microstudio to hoster?
Because they are two different programs. It's like wanting an upgrade from Microsoft Works to Windows,

This I don't know much about.

The new release is working with Vista, that is what I run. It honestly does have a couple glitches, but nothing major IMO.
