First off, I don't think an NFL game, which caters to families and is open to all ages, is comparable to a bar. Totally different creatures.

Second, its been my experience that clubs don't change into what you personally want them to be. Demands and ultimatums have not worked for me in the past. The only choice you have is to accept each place for what it is, or not and move on. You seem to have many choices out there sidewinder.

Third, it is common practice for places that freepour to make 'em heavy (at least the first one or two) for the heavy tippers. It's just done. But I still prefer to work in a non-metered bar to a metered one because that also gives the bartenders the ability to make 'em weak when the person is getting buzzed. A good bartender will make that first one strong and then taper it back as the night progresses. And you can't do that in a metered room.

The NFL must have had a lot of complaints about drunken fans at the games. The whole point being regular people go to public places, such as bars and expect normal adult behavior. 90% of the people going to karaoke or a football game do not go there for the purpose of getting obliterated. They go to social drink. Big difference.

Unruley drunk fans or bar goers hurt business. Normal people don't go out for a night of entertainment and expect the place to be crawling with drunks. They don't run from bar to bar looking for the biggest number of drunks to party with.

Many bars are also restaurants. That includes family members of all ages. You wouldn't subject your family or just your wife or girlfriend to a packed house of drunks acting badly. I expect my karake show to be the same way. The percentage of "drunk" people should be nil.

The percentage of "drunk" people should be nil at a place that doesn't serve alcohol!!! PERIOD!!!!!!!! You're so fixated on your concerns of drunks destroying your equipment or physically harming you.... I already gave you a solution/suggestion to your problem. Shall we play the same broken record over again, or is it time to bury this and go to the next topic????

This makes me think that your crowds all contain screaming staggering drunks and anyone not drunk is a freak.

I don't play that game. I attract social drinkers that behave normally.

It's just that for some reason lately, the number of over served individuals has increased in a few bars and I don't like the trend. I'm used to rubbing elbows with the normals.

That sounds like a staement from someone that drinks to see how fast they can get drunk and anyone that doesn't like it is an idiot. We should all expect drunks every time we go into any bar. Maybe in the dives you frequent.

Hey sidesaddle, why don't you just confront the owner/management or better yet confront the staggering drunk or move on to a different place like heinz field, where there won't be any staggering drunks to bother you, because the NFL is crackin down.

SW, when I was an MP, I didn't want to deal with drunks. But guess what, it was part of the job. If you have that many staggering drunks, I want to know where you are so I can avoid your town/city.

BTW I know where you can have your perfect karaoke show with no drunks and perfect singers...........Heaven.

 sidewinder,

Well, well, well!!! Back to the same old crap huh? It amazes me that you even have the gall to post anything here after your last fiasco. However, enjoy while you can....me thinks it's gonna be another short visit...hopefully ....your last. BTW...just so you know...your thought train on this subject is WAY off base. IF...like you contend...that you could get a venue in ANY establishment...pretty much shows that evidently...you're misrepresenting (lying) the facts....AGAIN....due to the fact that you just don't go and get (because you can't) a better, or more "up" to your standards, venue. I will grant you this though......you sleazed your way back in here, knowing you are not appreciated, nor welcome, and none-the-less, continue your ungodly rants concerning "your karaoke world"...not ours. So my "friend"....kudos on your sleazy, back-door, underhanded, and just plain contemptable resurgence into a world you'll never understand or be welcome to!!

if you stop responding to him or her, they'll get bored with this place!

Geez, stop feeding the trolls!

Anyway, karaoke is in bars... where alcohol is served. Get over it, already!

I’m kinda tripping on Sidewinder.

He’s sincere imho; difficult and hard-headed, but I don’t think he’s just a blatant troll.

And as some here said, we don’t have to respond, so the fact that he inspires so many responses must mean something.

I find it particularly entertaining, myself.

Sidewinder, this level of intensity is not good, and it’s going to have a definite impact on your health in the future, physical and mental.

You’re not crazy, just a bit wound-tight, but to a point it’s just not healthy. One doctor’s appointment, some simple common relaxant/anti-depressant/whatever (I don’t know about medicine), and your life could really improve.

Imagine, it would be the same as solving all these problem that are driving you nuts; they just won’t bother you anymore.

Thinkaboutit.

Peace, dude. :)

Well, let me DEFINE what I think a troll is...

a troublemaker. Side rarely joins in on conversations. To him, it's his way or the highway. He rarely has changed his mind due to multiple people pointing out facts. He just justifies it, and his comments are very inflammitory. His dislike for his fellow man (the drunks, which CAN get annoying - I'll grant that!) to me means the dude is in the wrong line of work.

He should probably stick his money and morals where his mouth or fingers are... open up a coffee house or his OWN bar and control matters that way.

Now there are trolls out there that just irritate to irritate. In no way do I think SW is that way. But he was booted off this board in the past for his inflammitory way of posting, and I for one was disappointed he was allowed the opportunity to slip back. His recent threads and posts indicate he's not changed one iota. I just see history repeating itself.

SW - I understand your frustration. I was dealing with an unbearable drunk crowd at one point. I went to the owner and asked for a bouncer. We didn't even have one. I think the answer here maybe a bouncer specifically designated to you. The bouncer they hired for me sat directly next to the stage and when I needed anything he was to answer to me.

It's a bar you will always have to deal with drunks, but sometimes it is over the top the amount you have to deal with. If a bar decides to over serve patrons they should have to help deal with the consequences.

I hold the right to deny anyone to sing that I deem disorderly. It is the bars responsibility to ensure my and others safety from dangerously drunk patrons.

I would approach the owner with concerns about over serving patrons and how it effects you directly. If this is going to be their policy to continue doing so I would ask for protection from these people for my equipment and myself. If they don't agree on a solution with you, I'd walk.

If you aren't valuable enough to them to comply and you can go somewhere else, I would. Why continue to deal with feeling unsafe? I know the feeling and it isn't worth it.

Gee... aren't you nice!!! You took the time to make a drunken insult/comment aimed directly at me, yet you didn't even respond to my solution for you! Why don't you go back a few posts and read it???!!!!
