This is partially a response to the external hard drive thread and a response to the general opinion here that Hoster and Compuhost are the best and anything else is second grade. After almost a decade of of running digital karaoke and being a pioneer in it I have evolved to RoxBox. This thread is not meant to generate arguments, it is only intended to give a short tour and show a couple of things why I prefer Rox. I have never knocked any other software and bottom line it is a matter of preference.

To start with Rox utilizes real windows. In the jpg notice that they reflect a theme of Windows Classic and color of Windows Standard. Each is resizable and has all the windows advantages. The first jpg shows the search pane. The divider on the right can be moved and the ratio between the search pane and que can be set (rox is full screen). In the import jpg notice the column headers. In the search pane they can be sized or moved in order. Mine shows Artist Title only. You could show disc track number if you wanted.

The import jpg shows all the formats which can be used. The tracks are put into a microsoft mdb file which can be loaded into Access etc. The tables are karaoke mp3 singer history and a few others. When songs are added it takes only seconds to empty the data base and reimport. A track can be dragged and dropped into the que pane with windows explorer.

The search pane shows the results of typing cli. (search as you type) An n would show patsy cline only or at least narrow it down. There is virtually no search delay. Notice the results are sorted by title. A click on the title header would change from descending to ascending. A click on the artist header sorts by artist and ditto. I can find or change songs on the fly in a matter of a few seconds.

By changing entries in an ini file I can change the background color, font type or font size in either pane. Of course all these features can be applied to the que pane and in player 1 or 2. This is only a small sample of the control one has with this program.. A click changes from player 1 (karaoke) to DJ (player 2) for ultimate control. For my high tempo KJ/DJ format this is the one I prefer.

In the quick photo thread shows a shot of what the audience sees.

BTW in a few weeks we will be alpha testing version 4. This has Franks sound engine. It compares with Sonar which uses the ASIO drivers. It blows winamp or others away.

Why would the letter 'n' bring up Patsy Cline?

I think Mcky was stating he like CH because if you want an exact title (say burning love) & know the artist you can type simply 'elvis burning' & it would bring up all songs by elvis with only burning in the title.
In Hoster I would just type in Elvis & go down to burning to get the title - sortable in the same manner you describe by any field as well.
As long as you understand how your program functions I really don't see one being better than the other in that manner as far as search function goes.
