If anyone could lend some experienced advice i would be greatful. I have been djing with a laptop for a while now, i run a usb plug and play mixer, and powered speakers for that set-up and everything is great. I decided to add karaoke to my show, i have a seperate laptop with compuhost running karaoke on it. However i can not get the plug and play mixer to work on the usb like my other rig. Does anyone have alternate routing info to get the sound to the mixing board. I have a hp pavilion laptop, and choice of either numark cm200usb, or yamaha usb 12ch. mixers.thanks

You could simply buy a 1/8 in to dual 1/4 in cable and run directly from your laptop's sound card. Plug the 1/8 in plug into your headphone jack, and the dual 1/4 into the input of a channel on your mixer. Or you can go 1/8 in to dual rca and do the same. This is what I do, and has been working for me for years.

In Compuhost, go to:

Files --> System Devices & Options --> Audio Device Setup

You should find that you have two cards there when your mixer is plugged in. You should select the USB.

Similarly, in

Control Panel -> Sounds and Audio Devices -> Audio

You should be able to select what is the default device.
