Yesterday a friend came over over in his boat, and took me to a waterfront bar across the river for a beer. After a while I said to my friend, lets get outa here and find a bar with some music, when all of a sudden some guy comes in trucking a bunch of equipment. When I found out he was a kj, I was excited because I never saw karaoke in my life. I knew I wanted to sing so I figured, now or never. I made my request, and did " Rolling on a river" ,very exciting (do you remember your first time?). After getting very good audience support I was hooked. Ended up doing 4 more songs before the night was over, and now I cant wait till the next time.
I told the kj about all the good people, and info on this site. He plans to check it out or join.

Thanks darlin
It was a blast, if there was anything negative, it would only be that I could hardly hear myself out of the monitor. Maybe I am just used to my system that is set up a little differently. Ron

My first time....ahh, I remember it well... A small smoky caberet in a seedy south side neighborhood of Milwaukee in 1984. A KJ was there with an old Singing Machine set up, you know, the ones that played 8-tracks, and you read the lyrics off a small piece of paper that the KJ pulled from a binder. 'Twas Little Duece Coupe, I think.

The KJ must have loved you !
I'm glad you made the leap, it will open up a whole new world to you singing in front of people.

My first time was when my wife took me to a kj's show because she was so impressed by his singing. I listened for a while then finally got up and did
"Look Away" by Chicago. I've been hooked ever since and I still have the recording he made for me. I subbed it on here a while ago.
I started working for him about 2 or 3 months later. It's been a really good friendship even after we both quit doing the shows.

Wow! Karaoke Virgin yesterday and now posting on Karaoke Scene today...
You've got it bad man!
Next thing you will find yourself doing is searching the local entertainment magazines for new places to go. After that you will be finding yourself gravitating to the karaoke section of your local music store. It only gets worse from there, cause you turn to the internet to support your habit. It's almost like "Crack"
Welcome aboard! and now that you are no longer a virgin you will fit right in here..

Hey Trav, thats cool that you subbed your first karaoke experience. I would think that most of us would do anything to make sure that our first karaoke experience on tape self destructed some how.
