It's been so long since I've worked with Excel. I can tell you I can do what you want to do with Word... That's easy with their column feature per page!

Word allows you to easily Import the excel spreadsheet data. I personally would just select the columns and then COPY them (into clipboard), and then PASTE them in Word.

As for the column feature in Word, click "Format" and then go to Columns. The process will walk you through it.

HOWEVER, Chip from DKUSA has a songbook program where he will convert your excel songbook to his format.

Called Speedbook

If you happen to have MS Access I would port over your Excel data to an Access table and set up a 4 column report. Of course, if you happen to have Access I would STRONGLY recommend using it for songbook creation and scrapping Excel anyway.

I'm interested in knowing how to set up a 2 or 4 column report in Access. I imported a test database into access with just two fields, Artist and Title. I''d like to print books by artist or by title with two column listings per page. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.

For a 2 column. First you'd set it up in page setup. Margins .5" all the way (for more data per page. Then click columns. Number of columns you want. 0" spacing on both. Width 4" Height 0". Down then across.

You need to play with the detail in order to get it set right. Try to keep everything within the 4" range.
This is mine set up like above - artists

Wow, I didn't realize there was a Page Setup just like in Word and Excel. I changed to two columns and spaced them 1/2" apart and resized the column width and whahlah, two columns. FANTASTIC! Thanks Lonman

So if I may, I have another question. At the top of the second listing there are several songs from the listing under the Artis heading, but no BOLD artist listing at the top of the second column because it was a continuation. Is there some sort of conditional statement that needs to be put there? In other words, how do you tell access to place the Artist heading if a multiple song listing extends up to the next column?

All t[/i]his doesn't seem worth the effort other than as a challenge and maybe I can learn something useful. I can see that book software is well worth the money since I suck at programming. If had any skill at all at programming I would have jumped in and made a little program or some macros to do it and it would be done already. I really admire people who can program and make a computer do things. I think it's an amazing skill.

Hey Lonman,

Just took a quick glance at your book and noticed an error. You have Del Amitri listed in the As. It's actually the name of the band, which would put it under D. Not sure why that caught my eye, and I strongly doubt any of their songs ever get sung, but thought I'd mention it for your next go 'round.

Thanks, can't get them all - I didn't know, sounded like a name! Will fix. :D
At least it isn't as bad as seeing Skynyrd, Lynyrd in some books i've perused.....

Looks like KJPRO is the only program I found that will do an Excel import - anyone know of any other songbook software that has the function to import Excel files

Thanks
