Hi Newbie question. I'm trying out the 30 day trial of compuhost. I am not a kj and only use this for home use but am looking for a slick user interface which is user friendly for guests to be able to input songs when I'm not around.
Have been using Unify Karaoke which mimics Karaoke lounge interfaces, but it has been quite buggy which is quite a downer during parties.
Looked for answers on this forum and in the "help" section of the software, but couldnt' find them.
Questions:
IS there a way to have continuous autoplay of queued songs without having to press "GO" between each song?
Are there any keyboard shortcuts for functions like "GO" or "ADD" songs?
If compuhost can't do this, do you know if mtu hoster does?
thanks for any help

OK, not so sure about continuous play, but I can tell you that the next version of Compuhost DOES have keyboard shortcuts.

I had planned to ask for support for CompuHost by Streamzap, a PC remote application, but didn't do so until you reminded me. That would allow a Go/Stop from across the room.
But other than that, I don't know of any auto-play. I have never really wanted it, myself, so hadn't looked. But don't see it anywhere.

See, the new version has configurable global hotkey support for some function.
One being the "Go" button.
Configurable hotkey = you can decide what keystroke maps to a button, and the app needn't be "focussed".
This means, I can start a song & fade my Winamp-based filler from one button press on my wireless remote...
SWEET!

You keep talking about a new version. Have a link? All I see is 1.70.4 on the site...

I think he is referring to a post made in response to a few feature requests. However, this latest revision is NOT available yet (that I am aware of). To see the response listing the new features visit their forums and under the heading "CompuHost Feature Suggestions" click on the topic "Remote Start". Scroll to the bottom for the post in question.

Not sure what 'global' hotkeys are. These are the hotkeys in Hoster.
Spacebar Perform the action of the button with focus (dotted box within)
Enter Add Track button
Ctrl+X - Delete button (Delete song from the Playlist)
Ctrl+A Pause button
Ctrl+E Resume button
Ctrl+F XFade button (CrossFade)
Ctrl+K Skip button
Ctrl+P Play button (Ctrl+Spacebar)
Ctrl+R Restart button
Ctrl+S Stop button (Ctrl+Spacebar)
Ctrl+Q Quits out of Hoster ONLY while playing Ctrl+X Delete Selected Track in Playlist
Ctrl+Delete Delete Selected Track in Playlist
It also can be set up for remote control as well. Here is a quote from mtu forum with one that showed his results & several others have tried after with success as well.
In a previous thread, I requested the Blue Tooth to be able to control Hoster. There is an easier solution. I have bought a Keyspan remote control that works with WinAmp and iTunes and heaps of other applications. All you need is to map the controls to the applications Hot Key commands. Works with Hoster. I can map Ctrl + Space Bar to the paly button on the wireless remote and Ctrl + s to the Stop and it works. All we need is the Hot Key Commands to know what to map and then Hoster is remote controlled. I can now control the show (to a degree) off stage.

New Version: Yup am referring to the post on their forums, where I have taken an active interest and contributed heavily towards this idea. They have made a list of new features.
Lonman: Sorry, missread your post - thought you said Compuhost has it, not Hoster - my bad, apologies!

Thank you for all your helpful inputs.
Lonman: my original question referred to Compuhost which requires the KJ to press "GO" to continue to the next song. It has a nice feature of autofading from the last karaoke song to a filler song which plays with a banner image, but then requires you to press go to continue to the next queued song. I will check out MTU videohoster trial version as well.
Does anyone have the link to the "updated" version with global hotkeys?

Well yes you did ask about CompuHost I guess I read & responded to the part in your orignal post that asked Chris4eyes @ Mon Sep 01, 2008 11:35 pm wrote: If compuhost can't do this, do you know if mtu hoster does?
