I thought we could escape butting in on Jian's thread by starting a new one.

It appears Harley is adding more black parts lately instead of chrome. I still love the old school look. Lots of chrome!

Dee: I wish I could take credit for your compliment on my singing, but I can't as I have never subbed a song (yet). I think you might have me confused with Rong or Ron G ( I believe thats his name). I did listen to his James Taylor once, and it was awesome, and I told him so. Anyway, I'm just a guy with some chrome, a fleet of old boats, and a karaoke setup thats almost complete.
By the way, I have only been singing for less than a year, and I just lost my virginity about a month ago (see "lost my virginity last night" ) in the lounge forums.

Let's see I have a KZ 1000 vintage bike and a Yamaha Vstar Classic Cruiser. My fiancee has a Honda VTX cruiser 1800.

I've been trying to sell the Kaw. Three bikes in the garage is a bit much. Next year I really want to get the Harley, so I've been trying to keep my urge to add more chrome to my Vstar under control. I need to save my money. The Harley will be my dream bike, so I'm sure I'll have it for a while. Half the fun of owning a bike is pimping it out with chrome and a great paint job.

For whatever my opinion is worth, I think you are doing the right thing holding back on pimping the Vstar if it isn't your dream bike, as you won't get back but a small fraction of your investment when you go to sell it. If it were your dream bike, then of course it wouldn't matter, do it to suit your taste.

I've seen way to many friends have to sell bikes for so much less then they've put into them. After market parts really don't seem to bring up the value of the bike.

I'm trying to take my time and pick out the exact Harley that will keep me happy for years. One of the problems I'm having is I'm so used to my bike now I'm a bit afraid of riding others.

Once you find the right bike for you, its just like anything else, in that it's gonna take a little getting used to. Ron

Check out the soft tails....You can drop them pretty low in case you got got short legs and they make more aftermarket stuff for them than anything else.

With todays fuel prices I'll take one too! I could even paint it a faded blue to match my (50mpg) VW diesel.

Well, as soon as I hit 210 lbs the chain kept falling off. They are fine for completely flat areas, anything like a speedbump and there's going to be difficulty.. Problem on the road is the Bernoulli effect each time somthing with any mass goes by, they are quite dangerous although street legal.

How easy is it for you to get diesel where you are ? Not easy around here.

There must be a way to hop up those 49cc's to help you keep up with traffic, just don't add too much chrome, as it will add weight too....

Diesel is plentyful, but nowadays it's roughly 75 cents more a gallon than regular gas around here, which doesn't make sense to me. When it was cheaper up until a few years ago, that was the way to go for commuters. Ron

No, over 50 CC's requires a motorcycle license here in Ct. Over 50 years of age likes the 40 lbs that I can carry down to the basement when I'm done impressing the local females with my manly vehicle ! I'm not going to get chrome, Real men don't need chrome, we get about 50 rear and side-view mirrors and have an E-scooter that looks like something out've quadraphenia...

Haven't felt this much freedom between my legs since I had the Harley 65 CC moped in the 1960's.. Bikes are in my genes I tell ya !

True, But you should've seen the Honda minitrail (a full 90 CC's) I rigged with training wheels ! It was to DIE for !

Seriously though. I had a Hodaka trail bike, and a Norton road bike for awhile as a teen. When two good friend died in a bike accident I decided (well actually the parents decided) no bikes in our home.. Seriously, two nights ago my neighbor wiped out on his makeshift bike, seriously hurt, took a layer of skin or two off a good portion of his body...problem with this kid is that he's dumped it so many times, and rigged it in a half-A@@ed manner you can be sure the balance and integrity was totally off. His second wipe-out in 2 months, took out a big utility pole... Just got ticketed for not having insurance, was sober too, but this kid is flirting with death.. He says he has "the addiction" but he needs to decide he's going to get a good bike, ride responsibly, or give it up... Problem is, how do you tell a 22 year old kid that given his accident history, and wreckless riding, he's probably going to be one of the fatal stats ... I see some of these kids, and it scares me because they have the addiction but also the testosterone and at the rate this guys going, he's going to die... The group he was riding back with said it's amazing given the nature of his accident he didn't die this time.. One month of Vicodan, I was out front the night they got back... Helped take the bike off another persons truck...and dump it in the woods temporarily... Kids in pain... I think a problem also is, EVEN assuming a person rides responsibly, the Hartford Ct area roads and traffic can be a hazard for bikers.... Ct drivers really are horrible.. the roads aren't in good condition either around here... I think in a more rural area or a place that doesn't have winding roads with cars darting out all over the place and potholes every 100 yards a person is better off on a motorcycle... But motorcycle accidents often don't forgive, and my take is I get scatterbrained, don't focus, get easily distracted, and I do believe I'm not a good candidate for being a safe motorcyclist..

In our 50's we have the maturity and respect for the bike, road, and it's not a power or speed thing. But these kids, it's too bad.. I lost several friends that never made it to 21 back in my day, and I know the personally, a motorcycle for a person such as myself would be risky.. So I never bought another one...

But this E-scooter, well, That doesn't go on the main road, believe me... Death trap...and I need to get one of these kids to put the chain back on for me

So true, its a zoo around here anymore. I live in the country, but as a commuter, work in the DC metro area. Ever drive the 495 beltway? One of these days right before I retire, I will get my revenge, and take some crazy's out. .
Anyway, one of my sons (21 yrs old) told me he is getting a bike, and I told him "over my dead body, it's a zoo out there now" .Of course he's too old for me to tell him what to do, but I thought I'd give it a shot. They even want dads bikes, told them they have to wait till I die for that.
I recently sold an old Honda 50 mni trail that my kids used growing up ,those things bring good money now.

As far as that chain, bet you could find yourself a nice little honey to bend over and help you out with that. Ron
