I guess either Billy Joel-Just The Way You Are OR Elton John-Don't Let The Sun Go Down On Me. I'm also doing well with Jackie Wilson-Lonely Teardrops and Dion and the Belmonts-Runaround Sue.

I've always done Country for the most part mainly Toby Keith, George Strait and Dierks Bently. We were drunk one night and I threw in Wanted Dead or Alive by Bon Jovi because it was always one of my favorite rock songs back in the day. I surprised even myself and I have a hard time thinking I do well on songs.

These are the songs that I get requested to sing the most:

I'll Always Love You (Whitney Houston) I don't actually care to do it because I think it is a song that is over done, but I do enjoy it.

I've Got the Music in Me - (Kiki Dee) I love singing this.

Piece Of My Heart - (Janis Joplin)

What's Up - (4-non-blondes)

Steamroller - (James Taylor)

Well since you put it that way it would be things like "Low", "Yeah", "Kiss", and believe it or not "Me And U" - Cassie - which I did as a joke one night and caught on with the room big time.

I tell you I've got to take this karaoke job more seriously or I'm going to get myself into some real trouble.

I've no idea what my best song is, I sing rather a lot of different numbers and my voice is continually changing and improving... but people who remember the days when I would go to karaoke and socialise, rather than host and sing only when it's quiet... would probably say "Oh Happy Day" from Sister Act.

The one I'm most proud of is "The Diva's Lament" also know as "Whatever happened to my part" from Spamalot. Two years ago there was no way my voice could manage that number and although when I play back recordings of it I feel it doesn't sound like me, the fact I can hit the notes, with clear diction and without sounding "breathy" makes me smile :D

"Silent Lucidity" by Queensryche. I once had a rough biker chick tell me that it took her until halfway through the song to realize that someone was singing it and wasn't just bumper music, and a KJ tell me it was the best version of the song he's heard at his shows. It's one of those songs that a lot of people loved to death when it was out, but over the years have forgotten about.

I sing wayyyy too many songs to have a "best" song. I do many songs justice, and I'm flattered when people like it. I also TANK a song or two, so I don't get too big a head about myself!

I used to sing "Silent Lucidity" a lot, and am in full favor of getting more QR songs out on karaoke. Heck, the whole "Empire" CD would be awesome to have out! I finally got STTW to produce "Anybody Listening" and they did a supurb job at it.

I try to stay away from the ballads... I do them very well, but they ARE a bit slow for some other folks. But songs like

R.E.M. - "Everybody Hurts"
Fleetwood Mac - "Peacekeeper"
Just about ANY Billy Joel, Genesis or Phil Collins, Bob Segar, Elton John or Matchbox 20 Songs
3 Doors Down "Here Without You"
Steely Dan - "Do It Again" (Radio Starz version ONLY! LOL!)

so it's very, VERY hard for me to figure stuff like this out. Depends ENTIRELY on my mood!

It is so hard to pick just one. Like Matt said there are so many different styles.
It is also very hard to rate myself. I could only go by what people request me to sing the most.

Okay if I had to pick - I've Got the Music In Me - Kiki Dee

I have heard you do that one, and I am telling you folks -- it is stupendous!

Here's a sappy story that has nothing to do with this thread so feel free to skip over it. Or yell at me. Or both.

This goes back about four years ago. I had just bought the Supercore set (that's all I had) and a JVC player so some of the regulars to my Thursday night music gig (that I was doing without the band at the time) could join in and sing a little.

It was towards the end of the night. A table I didn't know came in, and when they saw the karaoke setup one of them asked to sing "I Will Always Love You."

By this time there was just this table and a few up at the bar still left in the room. The lights were low. She grabbed a stool, and slowly but perfectly this song started to come out. By the time the sax solo hit about halfway through I was practically in tears. This woman has just an amazing voice.

It was at this moment when I realized that doing karaoke wouldn't be such a bad thing at all.

This woman, and that whole table that was with her that night, was instrumental in getting my current home room started 2 1/2 years ago. But no matter who sings that song, I try to take time off from that sax solo on to just sit back and listen.

Now that I've ripped the Supercore set to computer it's given up it's secrets. The Supercore version of "I Will Always Love You" is... Nutech! But I can't imagine a better sounding version. The sax solo still chokes me up sometimes. You just never know.

Keep singing it Babs it's a great song!

Recently, as far as specific requests from other people are concerned, it has become a toss-up between "Art is Calling for Me", and PLEASE DON'T SING ANYTHING AT ALL

Obviously some tough crowds! (And this is not a joke!)

Bill,

Nutech DOES have some excellent songs out there. Far more middle of the road ones, and some blatantly just AWFUL, but I have also found some that were terrific!
