Too bad that kind of common sense isn't available to the CEOs in charge of these flailing businesses who are just plain too busy lining their pockets to actually run and oversee the companies they're supposed to be working for, Congress is giving them free reign and carte blanche to run off with all the moolah while we have to suffer the consequences. Like they really give a rat's a$$ anyway

If we see these kinds of numbers for the AIG Bailout... just think how much this 700 billion bailout (which everyone is saying could easily be 1 trillion) could be to all of those same people...
1,000,000,000,000.00 = 1,000,000 * 1,000,000..... a million of us could be millionaires!
Where can I sign up????

Common sense and finances never go hand in hand.
Example:
In the early 1990's the UK went through a big recession. A lot of people couldn't make their mortgage payments. By like £100pcm.
It was suggested that the Bank Of England (our Treasury if you will) work with the lending banks to alleviate this. Nope - nothing doing.
So these people lost their houses. The Government had to house them. In B&B's.
At a cost of £400pcm.
Hmmm...

And this morning comes this news that only compounds the mounting problems for America and U.S. tax payers.
FDIC May Need $150 Billion Bailout as Local Bank Failures Mount - Bloomberg.com
(This is only the tip of the infamous iceberg. 150B is a low ball figure - kind of a starting point.)
and
China banks told to halt lending to US banks - Reuters
(This is how Bush has been funding the war in Iraq and Afghanistan and large chunks of the WoT on the homefront. He has through the treasury been borrowing heavily from Chinas government owned banks. We had better hope that China doesn't call in any of its I.O.U.'s)

It took about 3 generations of government controlled education to convince 300 million people that they are responsible for the economy and they are God. I have news for you. They are not God and communism does not work.... All they can do is pass more and more laws, bend the constitution and spend spend spend spend and guess who pays for it..
The American farmers in this area no longer have a right to use their wells to produce crops.. It is used by developers housing projects and their green lawns. Ha Ha Ha!!!

I'm already ahead in that category. I have 2 1/2 acres in east Texas and have had my garden in the past, last one was 110' x 80'. I'll have it again, bigger this next time though, in the coming spring and I'm going to get myself some livestock to raise for the eggs and for the dinner table as well before it's too late. Oh, and I'm increasing the size of my ammuntion supply to help maintain order on my food supply if and when the crap finally hits the fan. I saw hard times coming Americas way about 6-7 years ago and sold my place in the city and moved to the country just for this purpose. If others are smart they would do likewise.

Don't forget about fishing, it's still legal here....
All I am saying is that whether your talking a single person, or the federal govt., if you continue to spend yourself deeper and deeper into debt, and live on borrowed money, sooner or later your'e gonna have a problem. Some people are under the illusion that the govt. doesn't have to be responsible, and is exempt from this basic common sense principle, but that is not true. Our govt. leaders are just as guilty as as any ceo's thats bankrupted their corporations, as they continue to borrow and spend this country deeper, and deeper in debt. They surely care about our children and the next generation after them, don't they. Lets party today, and we can pay tomorrow, sooner or later the partys over.....
And again, it's not a rep/dem thing, both partys are guilty as hell......jmho Ron

You got that right. I blame both major parties for this gawd awful dilemma we find our country in. And now they want us to trust them to get us out of this mess. Uh-huh, rightttttt!!!!! And there really is a Santa Claus.

I prefer eating American food and have survived entire winters with wild meat and then had to suffer the stench of chemical meat cooking on the stove. It is rank... Corn fed are best but corn right now is totally out of sight right now because the greenies and tree huggers took over and we can no longer drill our own oil..
Wild bears can invade trash cans and kitchens here in Colorado now and a mother cannot protect her children or pets anymore. It is total insanity. But this is on the front range where the yippies have control. It does not happen in the rest of the state..

I don't think the "no golden handshakes to CEOs" policy goes far enough. Let's see.... in effect it is the taxpayer who is having to bail out these companies because of the CEOs' greed.
Wouldn't it only be fair that the CEOs' salaries should be reduced to the average income of US citizens until all of the bail-out money, plus interest has been paid back?

I can only say that if true chaos breaks out and law & order breaks down in America those greenies had best stay clear of my sights as they could very easily be mistaken for thieves out to steal my belongings. I will do what it takes to survive and these people (aka nanny-state tree-hugging do-gooder morons) try and butt into my business, well let's just say they'll not ever do it again. I want no part of their socialism.
